I was speaking with some friends and linkshell mates earlier, and we all came to a general consensus that this trend of random number generation for every single type of content has been getting rather old. It can be understandable for certain types of content, such as instances and open-world HNMs - but Hamlet Defense ended up being a huge disappointment.
Right now the only type of gear that can be readily worked towards is crafted items and the small selection of Grand Company equipment. The majority of the content has been all RNG based, and with low drop rates at that. Running CC and AV over and over again only to come out with a small handful of Darklight gear after weeks was demoralizing enough, but now we're faced with running Hamlet over and over with yet again a small chance of obtaining equipment due to random number generation. We're over ten runs in and all we've seen is fireworks and dark matter. Not even an accessory.
Personally, I feel Hamlet Defense would fit the perfect niche for a point based reward system. With players who donate more materials, or players who perform better during the battle phase gathering more points to purchase gear quicker.
Just throwing a chest in the instance and making us farm Hamlet Defense over and over and over again to no avail is just yet again more demoralizing content when your luck runs low. Some players like that, but I think it should be kept to the instances and NMs - not content like this.
Naturally, I'm not saying you should be able to do ten Hamlet Defense and be able to purchase a piece of gear - but we should be able to slowly work towards purchasing gear with a point system. Hamlet Defense should not just be another RNG based farm-fest like the instances are. We have enough of that as is.
