Razer Naga / Keyboard. I love it.
I've tried with controller, but I don't have near the degree of control I do when I'm using KB/M. Usually I'll do controller when I'm crafting or farming.
A sworn keyboard user in XI. Keyboard+Mouse is the way for me in XIV. Joystick is nice in crafting, gathering and exploring.
Still a long way to go with the UI, what it comes to my liking, but SE is doing a good job making many crucial fixes and adjustments, and the rest is said to come in 2.0, which i'm eagerly looking towards to.
Logitech G13 for left hand, G700 for the right. That's an incredible amount of macroable buttons, and with a little thinking and adjusting it's easy to bypass so many "design flaws" the UI has. Having the menu key, ESC, ENTER and an additional CTRL on my mouse's thumb buttons is just awesome. Left-hand WASD can be replaced with the arrow keys when i start to craft with one button, and combining them both for gathering with another button.
I also made macroes for every job i play, so i don't have to scroll the action bar up and down at all. This way i can concentrate what happens on the battlefield all the time.
When i want to kick back, i have a joypad with an integrated keyboard and a gyro-mouse, which controls my cursor pretty much like a wiimote.
I own 2 logitech controllers.the game was designed to be played with a controller,
Course I knew from my FFXI experience that trying to play an mmo with SE's wacked out control for mouse/keyboard was an exercise in futility.
They have made some great strides in the key bindings to make it "playable" but i bet you a dime to a dollar if all the keyboard players broke down and bought a 15 dollar logitech they'd be like
WOOWWwzzzZOmgZZ!!!! this is way better!!
An Xbox 360 controller.
A Dualshock 3.
And the "Official" FFXIV controller.
Tried the game with all of them. Keyboard and Mouse is better.
Fulltime keyboard, occasional mouse when in urgent needs to target a needle in haystacks.
I love mouse+keyboard controls, for everything BUT this game. I don't know what it is, but I cannot get used to them. Controller 4 lyfe!!1
same, and I've got a G-13 sitting next to me that I haven't bothered programming for this game or XI, I used my PS3 controller and motion in joy for XI as well for years. I can't imagine it any other way now.

The bolded part is your problem. Ever since WoW modernized the KB+mouse interface, clickers have been at the bottom of the totem pole. It's just slow and inefficient. In the early days of WoW I remember meleeing down clickers without taking single hit because they'd be so slow at turning around and using their abilities.
This is how I play as well. I'd incorporate the mouse more if we had full access to all our abilities (instead of only one row) and were allowed to bind our keys freely.
I do mouse, keyboard, and controller all in one.

I have also been playing wth a controller, but pray for the day that this game lives up to par with other MMOs on the market with keyboard and mouse controls.
UI and Kb/M contollers are the biggest thing I am looking forward to in 2.0
I have actually tried over the last few weeks to ween myself off controller gameplay and back to the kb/m style and its extremely unintuitive and have ended up going back to controller.
Yoshi-p please don't let us down with 2.0 in regards to kb/m controls :P
I find controller to be leaps and bounds easier than the keyboard setup. On Target Mode A I can set my target type to enemies so then Left/Right on the D-pad is enemy targets and Up/Down is party members. Works like a charm even for healing. Add onto that I can switch target types in less than a second, it's a pretty versatile control scheme.
I couldn't imagine doing gathering with anything but the controller though. I don't feel like I've got as much precision with the keyboard.
