same, and I've got a G-13 sitting next to me that I haven't bothered programming for this game or XI, I used my PS3 controller and motion in joy for XI as well for years. I can't imagine it any other way now.

I have also been playing wth a controller, but pray for the day that this game lives up to par with other MMOs on the market with keyboard and mouse controls.
UI and Kb/M contollers are the biggest thing I am looking forward to in 2.0
I have actually tried over the last few weeks to ween myself off controller gameplay and back to the kb/m style and its extremely unintuitive and have ended up going back to controller.
Yoshi-p please don't let us down with 2.0 in regards to kb/m controls :P

I find controller to be leaps and bounds easier than the keyboard setup. On Target Mode A I can set my target type to enemies so then Left/Right on the D-pad is enemy targets and Up/Down is party members. Works like a charm even for healing. Add onto that I can switch target types in less than a second, it's a pretty versatile control scheme.
I couldn't imagine doing gathering with anything but the controller though. I don't feel like I've got as much precision with the keyboard.

Well yea, I doubt you would get many argue with you, but thats because the current UI and controls have been designed around controller first / kb/m second.
I think (more like hope) in 2.0 that will change a lot, obviously if you are a dedicated controller fan they should make sure they provide options for those that prefer that style, but for me personally PC games should almost always be played with kb/m.

Gamepad support is becoming more and more common for PC games, things are leading toward that direction. Keyboard setups will always have more functionality but nothing in FFXIV requires all of it. You can do everything you need to, aside from chat, on the gamepad.Well yea, I doubt you would get many argue with you, but thats because the current UI and controls have been designed around controller first / kb/m second.

I'll admit that I probably prefer gamepad because I grew up a console gamer. Never had a gaming computer until I bought my own so I'm very used to playing everything with the gamepad.
I've always been gamepad guy since FFXI. I was teh best healer that way too. Cycling party members using UP/DOWN on your D-Pad is way more efficient for me.
I recommend it to any new player I introduce, especially if they've played FFXII before, but I respect those that can play using the Keyboard/mouse.
My hopes is that in 2.0, both schemes will make even more sense to their respective audiences.

Well I'm not really arguing here, we should be allowed to use what we prefer at the end of the day.Gamepad support is becoming more and more common for PC games, things are leading toward that direction. I also grew up with consoles but that doesn't mean I don't see the advantage of keyboard and mouse, perhaps if you aren't used to it though it would seem a bit alien and unintuitive but like I say use what you feel is best.

Keyboard only here. No mouse or controller. I actually tried to set it up to by similar to how XI played with keyboard only. My numpad controls the camera, and the rest are left as default.

Think with the controller if you add the target option to only target engaged enemies you reduce accidental hits on non aggro'd mobs by ~100% excepting AoE hits.
I think they should improve kbd/mouse useability but they shouldn't do anything that hurts controller usability, and don't think they will since they still intend to release on PS3. I do from time to time use my kbd for things other than chat, usually in town when speed/accuracy isn't important and/or I'm chatting alot. I'd also use controller and a mouse for moving inventory around and things, I already use mouse alot in menus/scrolling where there's more than 3~4 options cause it's faster to spin a scroll wheel than pressing dpad 30 times. The majority of my play will still be controller, combat exploration and what have you a controller just feels natural, but playing with controllers since Sega Master System/NES times so I'm really accustomed to them now.
