Weapon Design Contest 2021

They didn't include the new jobs by design since I believe it specifically said jobs currently in game. Might be that they didn't want to start leak speculations by making a template for them for this contest.

These contests are fun though I tend to knitpick over alot of small details on my own artwork that makes me toss it and start over lol.

I was debating whether I should bother entering since apparently you don’t need to be an especially skilled artist to participate using the templates. But the one cool thing I’d love to see is a SAM weapon that isn’t a curved katana or saber. Having one European-style sword with a crossguard and a detailed scabbard would look really cool, just for variety. Unfortunately the template seems to suggest only curved swords will be accepted.

The borders shown in the templates are a reference and designs may slightly exceed the border if necessary.

So I think it should be fine. A straight sword for SAM was also my plan lmao

I have only one request, Hammers, Warhammers, Maces, Baseball Bats with nails... basically we have a distinct lack of Melee Bludgeoning Weapons.

I really hope DRG gets a slender weapon that's more like an actual spear with edges on the head than the 2H piercing weapons we traditionally get.

Design contests terrify me. I hope this round people will vote for style, not artistic merit. I look forward to seeing what people come up with!

I think you have some wiggle room for a straight blade.

One of the earlier furniture design contests I kind of shot myself in the foot. Instead of just making a drawing I decided to actually build the item... It ended up something like 10 months after the deadline but I do have a Carbuncle Kotatsu to put in my room in the winter.
