It's possible there's a separate Japanese version of the competition that would include you? Or maybe they run it at a different time?

Japan isn't on the list of participating countries and they're unlikely to miss out altogether.

Hmm I'm not sure. The latest art contest doesn't allow people from SE Asia to participate. I was thinking that this time it would be different, but looks like it's the same rule again.
