Downsides to Aether right now?

Watching reasonable people becoming unreasonable, either because they want their 15mins of fame or they've become so focused on "welcoming" the new wave that they effectively become the equivalent of cyber-nannies.

The downside to being on Aether now:

At least you get to transfer to preferred worlds for free.

Though honestly I would suggest not getting in a rush to transfer (if you're still in the planning stages).

First, Aether may not remain on Congested status that long if new players are continuing to flood NA servers. Primal and Crystal will catch up in population, and SE would need to remove the Congested status to balance things back out.

Second, data center travel is coming (planned to be implemented before Endwalker release though there's always the chance it will be delayed). That will allow you to play with your friends.

Third, you can always create a new character on the same world with your friends and level with them while waiting for data center travel to be implemented, at which time you could switch to using your main character. I always find it bizarre that people recommend their friends to the game but then insist their friends rush solo to level cap instead of helping their friends get the best possible experience at a pace that's enjoyable to them.

And why would Crystal be congested soon? I thought we were all Tumblr SJWs that ERP. You'd think people would want to avoid that and go to Primal instead.

I am having this problem now. There are several people at my job that are interested in joining our FC and playing with us, but they cant for the time being. It feels bad because we were looking at having an entire office raid group going, but we have fingers crossed the server will be unlocked before too long.

It's been frustrating. My main is on Aether. I tried to get my sister into the game, but we had to create new characters on Primal because the others are packed to bursting. We've had such horrible experiences in Famfrit so far. I hope they do something about the availability. I'm not sure what that would entail, but if adding more capacity to Aether is possible, they need to do it. ASAP!

My initial comment was in regard to some guildies who wanted to be with their friends.

Crystal is all 'Preferred' so transfers from Aether to Crystal are free. Primal is all 'Standard', Hence I expect Crystal to soon be at capacity

Most transfers and new players don't know or care about Balmung/Mateus being heavy RP servers

I had a spare small char on an Aether server and on a lark moved it to Balmung this afternoon, no worry about locks.

Aether is already seeing a big drop in lowbie sprout activity in the early zones.
