Class quests referencing MSQs

Hello all!

I have just finished Heavensward, and was inspired to go back and level a Dragoon. Lo and behold, I find that the Dragoon quests actually set up a lot of the background of Heavensward, and it would have been much better to have done the Dragoon quests first.

Of the class/job quests I have done so far, the quality is very variable, but this is the first one I have done that has directly changed my understanding of the MSQ.

Are there any other class quests I should try and get done before Stormblood or Shadow Bringers?

Is there a good order to do class/job quests, purely in regard to story continuity?

The dragoon quests are the only time you'll ever see that level of overlap between the class/job stories and the MSQ. Some minor things change based on classes you've leveled and other quests you've done (Alisaie's HW re-intro changes slightly depending on whether you've completed Binding Coil, a Stormblood cutscene changes slightly if you're a healer, a few Shadowbringers quests have an extra dialog option if you've done certain other quests, etc) but nothing else major like with Estinien.

I would however recommend doing the Warring Triad quest line before Shadowbringers. That'll give extra context to certain plot points, and is required for the role quest culmination quests.

In the addition to the Warring Triad, doing the Alexander and Omega (Normal) raid series also gives more context for several plot points in Shadowbringers.

As far a class and job quest continuity, or any side quest for that matter, they are all assumed to happen in the patch that they released ie, the Dragoon quests until lvl 50 happen between 2.0 and 2.1, the Rdm from quests 50-70 happen between 4.0 and 4.1 etc. The rdm quest line 50-60 does hook in a bit to the plot of Stormblood but not to the degree that the drg quests do for Heavensward. They can easily be a prologue or epilogue to 4.0 and the dialogue in those quests does change slightly to reflect whether you have completed Stormblood or not.

The DRK 30-50 quests also examine the fallout of ARR for the WoL while the DRK 60-70 quests do the same for Heavensward. Many players regard the Dark Knight quests as some of the best job quests in the game so if you are at all interested in tanking, I'd suggest checking them out!
