Don't forget to snag your items and gil off the Resident Caretaker npc. If you don't have an apartment yet, it might be a good time to snag one so you have inventory space for all your furniture.

That's basically what I used my apartment for, have the storage full of stuff.
I also do most of my crafting inside my house, same with interacting with retainers and mending gear. Other than that...I'm always looking at ways to improve what I do have in my house.

I hope you can get another house.FFXIV is supposed to notify you by email when you are nearing final days of housing demolition, but a lot of players seem to miss these or just flat out don't receive them. Personally, I make it a routine to enter my house every 1st of the month regardless if I know I've entered it recently or not.

Sorry you lost your house. And yeah, they really should make the demo timer not just tied to going inside. Instead make it going onto the property or if they must tie it to some interaction, interacting in some way, like interacting with outside furniture or especially gardening. I barely go into my personal house, too, but I use the garden or hang in the yard. So that time I actually go in just to trigger the demo off is more superficial than what I usually do with it.

If you don't use the interior, why not just teleport to your friends' estates and not bother owning a house of your own?
I mean, even if you get a third house we have plenty of history that shows it'll just end up getting blown up anyway, so why put yourself through placard camping again?
I think they also send emails to parties involved if a house is approaching the end of the demolition timer. When my old FC basically became a ghost town because I was the only one still playing and logging in, I remember getting an email a couple times about the FC house approaching demolition if no one interacted with it by the deadline. I wasn't the FC leader but the leader promoted me to like a sub-leader rank before they stopped logging in regularly.

The system is supposed to but there have been a LOT of reports where people aren't getting e-mails.I think they also send emails to parties involved if a house is approaching the end of the demolition timer. I'm sorry to hear about your house! If you're able to get another one in the future, may I suggest putting a Summoning Bell in there and doing some Retainer Stuff in the house before logging out? Something as simple as sending them out on a venture or even putting a Mender in there and fixing your gear before logging out is enough to keep the house.

Well... it was not in my scope, but if ironic isn't exactly the idea, yes, it sounds like some kind of contradiction -let's say it's weird- to make the delete condition to be inside the house when the motivation for the wards system is neighborood. Just one more reason that appears as a flaw in the FFXIV housing concept.
They could attach the condition to the house private aetheryte (but less houses would be lost. And to avoid the flaw : you don't lose house if you don't place aetheryte, they still need the interiors condition).
This is why the Wildstar system or Swords of Legends is far better from my point of view. The whole housing is based on instances and you can create your own "housing group" if you wish/need. Plus, everyone can actually get a house.

La normalité n'est que la moyenne de nos folies individuelles.
Normality is just an average. I'm the weird, you're the bizarre.

There are a whole lot of commenters completely missing the point of OP's post, and it was just to express frustration at the fact that people hiding inside houses all day doesn't feel as "neighborly" as hanging out on the lawn does, but hanging out on the lawn doesn't credit you as "using" the house to keep it from being demo'd. And I can see their point there.
Also, I know people have 'helpfully' pointed it out before, but if you haven't updated your email yet, consider this your reminder to do so. Sorry about your house, there's always next time. :<
