Cannot Craft Maple Lumber

I am a new player, a paying player.

I have started the Carpentry job.

I have the Maple Logs and Wind Shards in my inventory.

I equip the saw.
I go to Logs, and click Crafting Log.

I go to the Maple Lumber Recipe. Both items show there and available to synthesize.

I click Synthesize, my character kneels as if everything is working, but stays in that position and absolutely nothing happens.

I abandoned the quest and retook it. Did not help.

I tried inside the Carpenter's guild building and outside of it.

I read and re-read the quest and instructions.

The thing just plain does not work. I'm very disappointed as a new player who paid money for this.

I have searched the web for an hour looking for any answers, including your own help and it says nothing except how to do it. I have seen two reports on the web of someone having exactly the same issue, but never got any solution.

Have you tried using Basic Synthesis from your Crafter Class skills to actually fill up the progress bar? Crafting in this game is done manually unless you have unlocked Quick Synthesis.

the lumber does not craft itself, you have to use your touch and synthesis actions in order to make the lumber. You're just sitting there doing nothing from what you reported.
