People are saying that many modders being whales protects them. It won't. We have plenty of whales that don't do those sort of things and plenty of other normal players that buy something here or there. These NSFW modders already spent that money. SE has it no matter what. How much money would be lost if FFXIV becomes known as the lewd game, while that new status turns away a lot of people? Not only that, but from what I hear some of the lewd stuff is focused on lalafells and npcs that are minors (like the twins).

There is a chance enough people won't know about it, but if anything is published on it, it could become a problem for SE. Odds are SE already knows it happened.

Nothing needs to be done about it. If this is how people enjoy spending time. That is ok. RP is about freedom, and shape by the community. This game has some pretty dark tones when it comes to this type of stuff anyway.

My husband and I don't rp, but we enjoy it when we see it because we treat them like npcs that make the world feel more immersive. That is it, what they do behind closed doors just like real life is no concern of mine, and I don't want to ruin it.

In an ideal world, this would be fine, kept behind closed doors or whatever. However, history shows game companies become responsible for the things their games are capable of. I remember specifically Rockstar getting in trouble because a mod (hot coffee mod) enabled erotic play in one of their GTA games. This caused the game to lose its rating and become an Adults only game, including a ban of the game in some countries.

Most MMOs keep a nude version of characters for modeling purposes (not detailed, like a Barbie). This alone caused minor problems for Guildwars and they had to adjust files to obfuscate their model better.

So, yeah, I think YoshiP has every right to be both concerned and rather strict about it.

If you watch the video, though, the modder explicitly states that content centered around the lalas and the twins is heavily frowned upon within their community. You're talking about the dysfunctional fringe of the fringe here. The stuff that gets posted on Twitter and Discord should be moderated on Twitter and Discord. I don't think SE is obligated to police every single piece of fan art posted on third party sites.

It is a crime in many countries to engage in inappropriate activity with minors.

Furthermore, just because the game happens to touch upon darker themes from time to time that is accounted for in the age ratings and is carefully controlled as to not be extremely disturbing or revolting.

There's nothing stopping people from engaging in regular role-play. I don't think people should be perpetuating the falsehood that ERP is acceptable and will not risk the integrity of an account if caught, though.

Funny that you should say this, because there is a WELL KNOWN venue on Aether that has an 8 year old child working there. How do I know this? The owner admits it. And they also admit the child recieves advances from people. They try to justify this insanity by saying "well my venue is safe for work". If SE catches wind of this (and I hope they do because its disgusting)its game over man.

If you know that an 8 year old is working in an adult venue, why are you coming here talking about it instead of reporting them and actually getting SE aware yourself?

How do you know that I havent tried? Dont make assumptions without an ounce of evidence because I'll be the first to tell you, you are 1000% wrong there.
