If there's something I've learned in my years of playing, is that sometimes you need to save your breath - or typing power, in this case, MiaShino.

East Asia is not a good place to derive any kind of moral model regarding the potential exploitation of minors. Japan is one of the most developed nations in the world and has historically struggled to be considered a tier 1 nation when it comes to action against human trafficking and the creation of explicit materials. It was actually downgraded by the state department back to tier 2 in 2020, with specific citations in regards to how poorly Japanese law enforcement handle cases involving the exploitation of children.

Hmm. Well I am actually from Japan! I never had issues there really when thinking about this no matter how I look. Now in Americaland.. I do wish to move back when funds permit. Many many family live here and I wish to see them so there is also that problem. I find many things westerners do since moving here to be questionable at best of the times..

I have to say I nearly vomited while watching that video…. I agree, there is RP and then there is insanity. The RP community is what kept me from ff14 for the entirety of its existence, only reason I tried it was because of asmongold. 100% the true god.

The game is a worse version of swtor, but seems like some dull fun for maybe a month while we wait for 7.2. It is what it is

Some people might take offense at this, but as a player of the game since launch, I just wanted to say I’m glad it is entertaining you for at least that small amount of time. No worries, even if you just play through it then wash your hands of it.

I for one am glad you gave it a shot and enjoyed what you could out of it.

Then again I am the least qualified person to comment onto that since the most active, insistent and persistent lewd modders I know were less than 18 of age when I tried to look after those kids and discourage them from seeking out in-game sugardaddy of the week every week I failed miserably. Nothing incited teenagers wrath than telling them what shoud not do I guess...

There is in every game.
Minecraft has/ have a huge problem with child exploitation, because people who are predators will seek them out and they know what games are popular with kids.
Which is also why I don't think that this is as big of a deal or problem as people are making it out to be in FFXIV because FFXIV is not a game that specifically targets children in fact as I've argued before I'd say that it does the opposite.

I am not saying that it literally never happens because it happens everywhere, but people do that in WoW or even games like CoD and CSGO too and often times there's not anything sexual ingame going on they try to build relationships with them that seem more friendly and then the exploitation is something they're eased into.
Actual sexual predators don't jump on party finder in FFXIV and search for kids to ERP with that's just not how it works.

It's way more likely that people ERP it to get their kink off with Lalafells which I still find to be disgusting and messed up but the players in 99.9% of cases are probably still adults.
Which I mean as much as I hate it, this is a Japanese game and anyone who knows anything about Manga and Anime and especially if we get into Hentai knows how widespread this content is.
That's a bigger societal issue that really has nothing to do with FFXIV.

Edit: The biggest problem I have with this discussion is both that people are clearly trying to pull the whole '' think of the children '' argument out to control what other adults do because they themselves take issue with it.
It's pretty clear that some people just don't like ERP and want it gone and they try and get to people on an emotional level by using the kids argument.

And also because it brings attention to it in a way that makes people believe that it's some huge problem and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy with the game getting that reputation.
Again I am not saying that it literally never happens but I think that a lot of people have a very pretty naive way of thinking of how this stuff actually happens in reality.
If someone does ERP and they ask what age someone is and they say that they're a minor and that person ( an adult ) still goes through with it they should be banned imo.
But this just isn't how exploitation online actually happens and works in the overwhelming majority of the time.

Think it depends but as an example Halloween movies I do cheer for on Michael, or movies like No Country for Old Men had me on the side of the killer. More modern example Don't Breath 1 and 2 I was in favor of killer, or Jigsaw. Think it has less to do with the edge and more so with how well the character is portrayed.

And how much you dislike the people the killer kills.
Some characters are just so stupid you want them to get killed.
