Screenshots as paintings ( With an actual bypass to abuse )

Wouldn't it be the coolest thing ever to have screenshots and memories from your time together framed on the walls in your FC house..

I know, there would be ways to abuse it if you simply uploaded it from your screenshots folder.

But what if we could bypass that, by making some sort of token which you would pay, say 200 k gil for, and with that token you had to ability the "process" a picture taken ONLY through G-pose, a function within G-Pose where you can print a picture you have taken into an item in your inventory.

It would be a little bit of work for SE, but it would be so rewarding man.

Any thoughts or improvements to this idea, please join in and discuss

Oh an also, yes people might get creative with their characters and do "inappropriate poses" etc, but they can already do that now, in the open world. This would be behind closed doors at least.

It wouldn't work because all those screenshots would have to be added to game files so every player entering a house could see them. SE would be inundated with millions of screenshots that players wanted used, and complaints when someone's favorite screenshots didn't get picked for the few hundred that SE could reasonably implement.

It's an idea that could work in smaller multiplayer games where the player's local client is effectively used as the game server when players are visiting each other's "homes" but not in a massive multi-player game like this.

I can see this going south, especially since we'd have to submit an image captured by the client - which means that some rather... spicy... content may get added because of mods. Tbh, while it's a cool idea, too many idiots in FFXIV would use it for all the wrong reasons.

I don't know how they could make it work but man I'd love to see this.

The one way I could see this - or a variation of this idea at least - working would be a screenshot contest for this purpose, with the winning entries being impletend into the game as paintings.
But maybe the appeal of having a picture of your character in your house would be lost this way? Still, I think it could work and have us end up with some nice new paintings based on people getting really creative with /gpose and glamours (I could imagine people creating characters to look like famous NPCs or just using the silhoutte of their character so that it can be used as a "stand in" for everyone or just finding very cool spots in the world...)

Tbh this would be a neat prize for a screenshot contest. Have your screen shot turned into an ingame house item.

This is not entirely true because Archeage does this exact thing. You can upload and apply custom images to certain painting frames, banners, flags, capes, sails, and even gliders and they all show up for every player that comes into range. It can work and has in other games, no selection process required. I don't know how Archeage does it but it doesn't impact performance at all, and Archeage is a game with one seemless open world so all of this stuff is displayed at all times in said open world.

The objects do display as blank for a time until you get close enough to "download" whatever the player has applied to them though.

The only way it could work is if SE gave a dedicated file for players to share.. one that let you rename a screenshot file and if you gave it to other players with the name they could see the picture as well.. and we all know how they feel about player adding files to their game

Is this what you're referring to?

    https://www.ign.com/wikis/archeage/Crests

That's not even close to what the OP is requesting.

It's also a game with a fraction of the players that this one has.

It's exactly what the OP is requesting. He wants to frame screenshots (made through Gpose in this case) for display in a house, that's what you did with the Archeage crest system. Take any image (or screenshot), rename it to the appropriate file, and shrink it down to the proper size and you could upload it for use in game as a "crest" which could then be applied to various in game objects that were visible to all other players. Doing this, you could create large paintings or posters for display in your home or on any other customizable object in game. The lack of players is also irrelevant because Archeage housing was in every single zone in the open world and housing zones were always full. It wasn't uncommon to have a single larger zone on one of the maps filled with hundreds of homes, now imagine every one of those houses (or most of them) displaying custom images both outside and inside of them, all which loaded seamlessly the moment you got into range with no performance hit.

The Wiki makes the crest system seem simplistic if you've never played the game. You choose background colors through the in game system but the image on the crest is ANY image uploaded from your PC no matter how detailed. Here are just a couple examples:

Note that these are not my characters but just pulled from Google for us as an example.

Now I realize the OP feels as though the screenshot system could be taken advantage of and to each their own. But the Gpose suggestion could work just fine as well. Either way the point is that systems for such a thing do exist and they do not require any sort of selection process or massive hogging of system resources to display. Other games have made it work just fine and every one of our housing areas (where most of this stuff would be displayed) are immensely smaller than most housing zones in Archeage.
