As such I feel like the next MMO in the FF series will come about when they decide they feel the game engine for this title is outdated enough that they want to use a new one.
From what I hear they still get new subscribers to 11 so i'd imagine it still doing well and is very profitable for SE. I really hope they do something special and unexpected when it turns 20 in 2022.

I know I'm keeping an eye on it since I loved that game for a decade and will have a special place in my gamer heart.

Not to mention, It would take more than 2 years to make a new MMO, unless they secretly been working on it, hypothetically.
