Just need to pick up the pace so we can get to FFXXX. Then we can have all hell break loose and get answers to questions you wish no one had ever asked and are now scarred for life because you were given said answers... lolI wish FFXVII will be an Online game, it could be the sequel to FFXIV but with modern graphics and a strong flexible code without the limitations of the current game.
1. You'd move inmediately?
Yes.
2. You'd keep playing FFXIV for a while?
If there was still content to play.
3. You'd play both if can have a discount for the pack?
Yes.
4. You'd play both no matter what?
No, I would jump ships as soon as possible if nothing held me back in FFXIV.
On another note, I would love a M rated game full with adult content.
It doesn't help that FFXIV started out as being very similar in tone and mood to the more serious JRPG's out there such as Final Fantasy XII and Vagrant Story. We got another taste of that with Bozja, at least, which to me is the height of the game's storytelling so far.
Whether the writers can ever surpass that remains to be seen, though I'd like more inspiration to be taken from the likes of Shadow Hearts, Breath of Fire IV and the Legend of Dragoon.
Thankfully there's a number of MMO's set to launch in the coming months/years that may or may not provide some much needed healthy competition in a rather stagnant market. Perhaps that'll encourage bolder decisions where FFXIV's story is concerned, or at least provide a viable alternative to play.
Yes, as though some god from the Cthulhu world whispered into your ear and invaded your dreams.
4 MMO's with the 4th one being the proposed hypothetical FF17.
When I said "SQEX [isn't interested] in creating and supporting 4 MMOs at once" I meant that they've said they're not interested in making and supporting a 4th concurrent MMO, not that they are currently supporting 4.
Sorry if this was conveyed poorly.
On paper, maybe.
In practice, that will be true to some extent.
But also, flooding the market with your own products is never a financially sound idea. They will inevitably compete with each other to some extent.
Depends.
If it were based on a world already rich with lore like the Ivalice world sure.
Specially if the character creation was more diverse with races like Bangaas, Burmecians, Seeq, Garif instead of just human but cat ears, human but bunny ears, human but dragon tail, human but tall, human but chonky, human but baby
This. When you've been playing since ARR beta you've heard this a million times and to questions of the most basic functions, it gets very tiring indeed. I'd love a new FF MMO that was built well from the ground up. A proper glamour log, a housing system that hasn't been functionally broken since it's inception and it never receiving anything but band aid fixes for 8 years, a character creator that isn't so bare bones in this day and age (technical limitations to separate Au Ra horns from the faces, to add more face paint options, impossible to add beards for male characters, to add more customization sliders etc.), so on and so forth. I love XIV but it's very frustrating when the technical limitations limit the game's potential at every turn. There's so many things a new FF MMO could do better from the start.
Technical limitations I think became a thing in 2.0 cause one of the issues with 1.0 was how it was eating hardware resources. There actually was a bit of a visual downgrade done between 1.0 and 2.0.
Pretty sure they said a new story would be starting after EW- which likely means another ten years. Now, in ten years it'd likely sink in the limitations and such of FFXIV, and I could see them doing another mmo then- but for a 2023 release for an mmo, they'd have to have started 2018'ish... I really doubt even Yoshi P could be making ShB, EW, FFXVI AND a full new mmo at the same time. If he were to make a new mmo, I think that'd take all his attention, and he's really only able to do FFXVI at this point because the departments under him in FFXIV are probably very autonomous by now.
I'd think it'd likely be 2030'ish, and I also imagine they'll want a new vision, so he may end up mostly consulting rather than being in charge.
FFXIV just hit the height of its popularity, and honestly has no competition right now as other big mmos (ESO, BDO) or upcoming mmos (Ashes, New World) are vastly different and capture different audiences- of all the times to make a new FF mmo, this is pretty much the worst possible time.
I would love to see what Yoshi-p and the devs could do with a MMO that has a decent engine for them to work with.
I’d move immediately if the graphics were better in comparison, the setting and plot was considerably fresh and the customization options were bolstered considerably.
Also new races, maybe.
