I hated the chocobo mount you get at the start, that got me to try the store out. I saw most of the cool kids doing it and I wanted to be a cool kid.

A few months on, I live in a cardboard box but at least I have some great glams, mounts, and emotes.

That is it. Anyone who says monthly fee is enough to run a mmo this size, and as much content pushes out like they do. Needs to never do business. Because the value we get out of this game is amazing.

You open with talking about ignorance then generalize the opposing view that you hold as the "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!" crowd or "Richie Rich" set. Why can't it simply be someone that holds a different belief from you and simply wishes to support the company in purchasing something that they simply like?

I've purchased roughly $5k in Lego sets over the last 2 years. Much more expensive hobby than playing video games.

Probably more than I've spent on XIV in 10 years, including all of the statues, fanfests (inc hotel and airfare), etc. Or at least pretty close to it.


What people want to spend money on is up to them. I think buying smokes and alcohol is the dumbest thing a person can do, but people spend thousands on those too, so...

namely, they are optional items, and they are under zero obligation to buy them to play the game. the fact that they exist, and arent free, seems offensive. the fact that a company, wants to make money is problematic. and anyone...
