But...but...glam is more important than food! It's the only real endgame after all!!Expensive being very subjective.
The market accepts and supports.. the pricing continues.
Compare any of that to pricing of things someone might pay for daily such as gas.. or a snack, or even something someone might buy that they didn't need to like a shot of liquor on a weekend out, or watching ONE showing of a movie.
People commonly pay far more for far shorter experiences.
Everyone is different, we all understand this. What is expensive for one person may not be for another. But being a average consumer in NA these prices cost less than most good cuts of steak or one dinner out for one or two people.
Enjoy Life you only get one.
Meh.
Sales such as you are expecting exist in the Real World because shops want to clear out old inventory that is not selling as well for new inventory.
Digital sales hold no such problem. And the length of time something has been in the shop (SD Fenrir specifically) has no bearing on its current price, or its discounted sales price.
Your Free-to-Play shop, on the other hand, has to be as inexpensive as possible in order to entice players to continue to pay money for items they don't actually need (unless it is actually a Pay-to-Win shop). Most of those shops make their money on selling you 'keys' to unlock boxes in-game to, possibly, maybe, sorta, kinda win a useful item.
Any income is good income for the F2P industry. Sales run whenever the game income appears to be dropping, as the F2P shops need you to put in an order to continue running, which is the reason you think you get 'better deals' there.
Spent $60 on fantasia's this month. Regret.
Tbh it really comes down to the mindset of what you're buying. The prices really aren't any worse than any other game I've played, in fact they might be better than some.
Sword of Legends Online for instance has $50 costumes. That's just a regular costume, nothing special, they just think they can get away with that pricing. Some cost $20-$30.
The game itself cost $40, mounts cost $30-$60.
There are quite a few games with prices of similar range.

.. yes I have it. Yes I feel like it was worth it.
I think it's pretty much what they would have included if they ever made a Bahamut statue.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
I think most of the items on sale are reasonably priced. Sure, some of the mounts could use a bit more of a cut but they have zero incentive to do so when people will buy them anyway. It is what it is. *shrug*
I don't think you know what "prohibitive" means.
The fact that the items sell in droves at their normal pricing kind of ruins your statement.
Not that I'm against lower pricing, but I don't really buy much from the shop anyway, nor do I really care that it exists since it's just mostly meh cosmetics.
Yes everything in mogstation is really expensive for what they are.
But they're selling them at that price because a lot of players still buy the stuff. Paying 5 dollars for an emote that isn't even account wide is ludicrous. But again, people buy them. And so many people pay for the mogstation items that SE keeps adding more and more to it at high prices.
So don't blame SE for this. Blame people who pay for it. But then you'd be trying to tell people how to spend their spare money, which no one likes.
I'm surprised people still complain about them. Especially on the US side, where a lot more players buy such optional things than the average on the EU/JP servers.
