True of Heart

It's a little ambiguous as to the timing of A-Pitat's death. Is this the first time we've heard of Kan-E's predecessor? Off the top of my head, I can't remember mention of him before. Unlike the character from Merlwyb's past, it seems like he has been established and then removed with no door left open for a future appearence (except in flashbacks, of course).

4/5 is up, and it's about Gridania... Kan-E-Senna specifically...

I must admit, I liked this one -

set just prior to the 7th Calamity it gives some background into how the Seedseer Council operates, and how Kan-E acquired Claustrum. It also puts the elementals into a new light, and offers a peek into their true natures - that they're not quite so obtuse deliberately, but simply due to their natures as beings of aether. And it gives Kan-E some vulnerability in for all her knowledge and wisdom, failed to see a fundamental aspect of Conjury was holding her back, coming back full circle to what the CNJ class quests taught the player- stubbornness only closes your mind and heart to the elementals and thus leaves you incapable of hearing them, and that even a padjal can end up like that. So it was an interesting side to Kan-E I never considered.

And the identity of the previous Elder Seedseer prior to Kan-E's appointment is revealed, although he's now sadly deceased.

I can't wait for the final one.

I hope she refers to this event at some point in Endwalker, and realizes that she misunderstood what the spirits said, since she probably thought it was about Bahamut.-

Gridania continues to be the most suspicious city-state in the game.

Edit: In terms of Gridanian leadership, wasn't O-App-Pesi the Elder Seedseer in 1.0? Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but I feel like he was more important back then. Would they be putting this new Padjal in between them? I'm super hazy on this bit of the story, and a quick look in the EE says "in another age he could have been Seedseer, were it not for Kan-E."

Yeah Baby! That’s what I’ve been waiting for! THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT!

As a Gridania starter it makes my heart feel warm seeing some development for the city state no one cares about. I really enjoyed this one!

- Kan-E-Senna having some real character injected into her feels nice. She is so prim and proper that she comes across quite flat but the reasoning behind all that being that she was essentially forced to grow up early so she could assume the mantle of leader and keep Gridania stable feels unintentionally sad. "Naturally Gifted child forced unto a pedestal and is so afraid of dropping the ball that it comes to harm themselves and those they care about most" is a trope we've seen before but it's still a good one.

- A-Pitat-Rapa aside from being a brand new character "who was said to be nigh on three centuries old" means that he was alive during the time of A-Towa-Cant the Legendary Wandering Padjal White Mage, whom I always wrongfully assumed was the Elder Seedseer prior to Kan-E-Senna. I wonder how an old school Padjal would feel about one of their most gifted members willingly rejecting the confines of the forest to go on a journey? WHM quest taught us that the conjurer's guild was very uptight about making sure Padjal's STAYED in Gridania, it's why Sanche Flees with Gatty.

- Last but most interesting point "Within the moon doth our doom stir." Is this prophecy about the "Dreadwyrm Bahamut" or instead "Big Papa"? Which moon are we talking about elementals? You gotta be more specific!!!

Do we know the timeline for Louisoix Journey? As an Archon of Exegesis the study and interpretation of scripture surely a book didn't say "Bahamut is in Dalamud" so when did he find out? Surely you could kickstart the alliance getting together by telling all the city-state leaders "Remember those pesky Allagans? Well a huge fuck you dragon they are responsible is gonna break free soon"

Was really nice to see that Kan-E-Senna had her own share of woes and how the elementals themselves speak to the Padjal. Though one specific line, "Within the moon doth our doom stir," is very foreboding...were the elementals referring to Dalamud, or to the actual moon? If they meant from the beginning the actual moon, then they could only have been referring to The Sound.

...one of my old theories is starting to resurface again due to this.

I recall mentioning around 5.0 that I found it incredibly odd that we saw no moon in the sky during the final part of the dungeon. One of my theories was that The Sound was sealed in the Moon, since no sound can travel in space, effectively keeping it from reaching the star and causing havoc. I again state my theory. Hydaelyn was summoned as a response to Zodiark, but the Sundering and the "fight" were not as the Ascians thought they were. Zodiark willingly took The Sound into itself and was sealed and cleaved into 14 with the Star by Hydaelyn as a long term solution to The Sound, possibly with Azem giving them the idea. The entirety of the Ascians plot has been undoing the seal, and unknowingly dooming the world. The corruption of the Sound spread unknowingly to the Ascians via Elidibus, aka The Heart of Zodiark, who likely has been subtly manipulated by The Sound since the beginning.

OP updated but still cross-referencing a few things - mostly out of the fact my memory on it is poor than that I have any suspicions. (The Claustrum timeline is interesting to consider though.)

Part of the magic of the end of 1.0 was that no one knew. Not even Nael van Darnus knew the true identity of Almighty Dalamud. The best hint we were given was that Dalamud was "an ancient sin cast to the skies."


Regarding the "Moon"

Not one of the four languages of this story specify. Not "the red moon". Not "the lesser moon". Not "Dalamud." That feels like it could possibly be deliberate.

I had either never know about Ala Mhigo taking this spoil of war, or had completely forgotten. Was this by chance in the Stormblood Bard quests? They dealt heavily in the Autumn War space.

On the subject of how Claustrum was gifted, though, this story essentially matches the explanation in EE. Perhaps any staff gifted by the tree is considered Claustrum, even if it has done so before?

It's one of the historical tales told by Erik, associated with the MNK quests. It also made it onto the EE1 timeline. There's a dozen ways to get around it, I'm just curious which is True, lol.
