Now given the monsters fights in this one is more comparable to Monster Hunter than FFXIV, but the battles there reminded me what was sorely lacking in FFXIV.
The Mobs being just as threats as the bosses where you have to respect the mobs too.
I know there is a recent thread complaining about the dungeons lately, and I have voiced similar concerns too for a good long while.
The problem I have with the mobs in this game and this goes all the way back to 2.0 is the fact these monsters have mechanics that are incredibly incompetent in usage.
Now there is a couple of exceptions in a few dungeons, but most of the norm is Mobs might as well give up using mechanics if the players can just steamroll their face to oblivion.
feels like more the mobs just exist for the sake of existing.
At least the mobs in FFXV comrades made me think twice before employing certain tactics on them.
Now I can understand getting a tutorial rundown of new mechanics, but when you repeat over and over again then its more about pleasing a crowd that can't handle the game at the most basic of fundamentals.
Devs. I get you want to make the game fun in your definition of it, but fun doesn't mean make everything cookie level and call it a day.
The only time, and I mean the only time I've ever seen mobs actually putting up a fight was in Heaven-on-High and Palace of the Dead on certain floors only. It was the only thing that kept me interested in both for so long as it did because of the difficulty and the mechanics were perfectly balanced IMO.
That same thought process should have been applied to the regular dungeons.
I try not to make such a big deal anymore these days, but this is the one thing about FFXIV I feel like the devs. keep holding themselves back on because some people complained way back when. That was honestly a bad mistake on their part to listen to that part of the crowd because look what has been produced now.
All Flash and no substance.
Stormblood seemed like it was on the right track though it was weak in some parts, and then there was Shadowbringers that seem to take 1 step forward and 1 step back over and over again throughout parts of the game.
At least the bosses were decent, but the mobs almost always seem to have this flaw.
Be real with me here everyone, but is the real reason FFXIV is like this is because of the crazy stuff that happened in FFXI in actuality? I heard FFXI was brutal sometimes.
