Uh... if you got banned on the Steam forum for swearing, it's going to be for breaking the forum rules. They're not SE and I doubt that they care about you criticising SE.

Are you banned from accessing the game or just their forum? If it's the latter then yeah, SE has absolutely nothing to do with your ban from another company's forum.

When i contacted steam support to appeal the ban they told me that i was banned by a SE Developer steam forum MOD. And thus it's SE problem not steams. I contacted SE support and i was told they don't have anything to do with steam bans. I do not own the game on steam as i've played since 1.0 but i use the steam forums as they are easier. But the mod who banned me had a serious abuse of power issue.

I seem to have this exact issue. I'm sorry that this is an old thread but after searching for so long, this is the only one I found that was very accurately relevant. I have tried so hard to appeal for a strange ban with steam, only to be told by steam support to contact the developer. (Steam even linked SE's support once) But then SE's support said "Sorry, we don't deal with the forum on another platform" when they do own the forum as they paid for it. It is their own moderators who manage it, too. The problem here seems evident. Between Steam and SE, there is a middle place where anything can happen...

I love this game and I never had a single warning in-game even. This is my first post here in this forum, as you will notice, because I mostly used the steam forums to communicate and find friends to play with. Surely there is something that we can do. SE told me to insist with steam support but steam will NOT interfere with the decision made by a moderator appointed by a game's team. This means that the decision solely rests upon Square Enix themselves. But... Why is there no way to do an appeal for a steam forum ban? This complication has made me lose some motivation to get back on the game...
