    Amaro account wide?

I'd like to start a movement to get the Amaro to be an account wide mount.

I just got mine, on one character. According to my rough records it took about 8 months. And I play a lot. There are a ton of single and more character mounts on the Mog Station for $25-$30, which is about 2 - 3 months subscription, for account wide mounts for a single character - like Amaro.

Yes, I know that FFXIV is very ALT Unfriendly. I've been playing for three years or so.
But I have lots of Alts for my own reasons. I submit the argument that Alt - Unfriendly is one thing, but Alt Hostile or Alt Punishing is quite another thing.

    Don't we think?
Are there other Achievements that have a similar Alt punishing nature?
    Mentoring?

Other features that are unnecessarily Alt Unfriendly? One that comes to mind for me is sharing Gil or Loot with Alts. But that's easy to get around if you have a trusted friend.

    What are your thoughts?

I mean... for the talk of alt-unfriendly... we do have 100 macros that shared between all characters. Which is useful for crafting on alts.

I don't think they need to change the Amaro mount though.

And as for what else would be a pain, anything that has a large milestone. All 4 tanks mounts, 10k HQ crafting/gathering titles, The Hunt Mounts, PvP mounts, etc.

Here's a suggestion to throw against the wall.

Any task in the game that takes more than a "Month of Subscription Time" to achieve by a "Full Time Player" [more than 4 hours per day] shall be promoted to "Account Wide".

    Just a thought.

I have played games that run all over in terms of being friendly or whatever to alts. my last very long term mmo was WoW, where you need alts for everything
so, in a way, I understand, and I get that you have alts in a game for your own personal reasons, but they are your reasons.

I also get that you feel, since the lack of it puts YOU out, it should be changed. I am sure there are some that agree with you.
    I for one, disagree,
if you feel you need to create alts thats the way you want to play. but for me, if something like this is going to cut into development or resources for content, or for many who have been complaining lately about lack of different things in seasonal events, I can see where you may have a hard time gaining favour for this.

but for the amaro and things like it, its to show that one character has all the jobs to 80, why should your alts get one if they havent? to prove that you have an alt with all 80's? your reasoning escapes me somehwat I have to admit.

Some pretty mounts just prove that I paid $30 and are account wide. Yes Amaro proves that a player succeeded to level every job to level 80. I don't see what further is proved by doing that task over and over since "Mastery" of all the jobs is already proven. Does "Mastery of all jobs to level 80" mean skill or just Grind? I assume the game designers meant to reward "Skill" not just "Grind". This distinction explains the use the terms "Hostile" vs "Unfriendly". I'm not clear whether one could "Pay" for Amaro by purchasing level 80 boosts on every job. That's another question beyond "Skill" vs "Grind".

Recently there has been much discussion on line about various games who "Respect the player's time". And generally, the consensus that I'm aware of suggests that FFXIV does indeed respect the player's time. Perhaps there are some ways, like the Amaro mount where this is not true.

    IMHO

I'll never stop banging the drum for alts and houses. The game knows I have a house on my account. The game can tell my alt and my main share a world. Why is my alt in this limbo of being a homeless home owner?

People in the past have asked for an account wide minion/mount collection folder. Other things mentioned are a specific shared storage for characters on the same world along with personal homes being shared with all characters on the same world or an easy way to mail items between your own characters.

Considering we are not supposed to share accounts with others it makes sense. I mean, part of me is saying “no, no, each character needs to unlock it”, but at the end of the day it is pure cosmetics, so why not.

At the very least if they are on the same server.

I have my main character and 7 alts. I just got the amaro myself on the main not too long ago. And I'm adamantly in the "no" category. Something like that I should put in the work to get on every character where I want one. It's an achievement personal just to that character. Same with relics, titles, minions, and orchestrion rolls. Again, I love alts, and do think the game is alt-unfriendly in some ways. But there are certain things you shouldn't be able to shortcut.

I'm fine with account wide Mogstation items because there wasn't anything required except some spare funds. I think they should have more account wide items there.

One big thing that could help with alts is shared storage including items, gil, and shards/crystals/clusters. So basically what you can put in the company chest. I get around this now because I have my own FC and they're all in it. But I have played plenty of much older MMOs where this was a basic feature. Also sharing houses with your alts. EQII has a trustee system so all of my characters have access to everyone else's house and I can customize the level of access.

No I don't think it being account wide would make any sense.
