About Making Or Joining a FC

I don't know if I'll always play the game. Meaning that I won't pay for a subscription for 12 months in a year. I may be off and then come back on due to a event or expansion.

Also I'm a loner and it's really hard to talk to people and coordinate events and such.

Also what happens if I make a FC and I'm the guild leader, but I'm not on around the clock?

Should I still be FC-less? Even if the FC that someone says is casual?

There are FCs out there with members who wax and wane. Everyone plays a bit differently and the majority of players stuttersub (take long breaks between content drops).
So there's no reason why you can't join an FC if they don't have a problem with m3mbers being inactive for a few months at a time. Some might, and kick you if you're gone a while, but some won't.

If you want to start an FC, it's likely going to take a little more commitment, unless you're happy being in a "one-man" FC by yourself. It takes four players to start an FC but the other three can leave after it's set up.

It depends on the FC. Some of the big active FCs routinely boot people after like... a week. But that's a choice they made because they're so big. There is no auto kick of members in an FC. It's a manual action performed by someone with the rights to do it.

As for being an FC leader, well, the main reason leadership passes on is because if a leader isn't around to manage the FC, the members eventually get stuck with no promotions and no means to do anything. The solution is to bounce the leadership role if someone doesn't log in after a while - so don't star/lead t an FC if you plan on taking long breaks. (I think it's like 30 days? I can't remember.) Instead try to find one that doesn't mind people taking breaks, but has active leadership.

I run such an FC on my server - I'm the leader cuz I log in almost every day, but we have MMO hobos that go off and do other things for months at a time.

Some FCs don't have strict attendance requirements to remain a member. You could choose to join one of those.

You don't have to be online all the time to be a FC leader though it's rarely going to be a strong FC if the leadership is mostly absent or doesn't interact with the members.

If you decide to start your own, keep in mind that there is an unavoidable dethrone feature built into FCs. If the FC leader has not been online in the past 35 days, leadership is automatically passed to the highest ranked, most senior member who has been online in the past 7 days and they will be free to make what changes they want to the FC (including removing all the other members). That means if you start a FC and invite others to join it, you could take a two month break from the game then return to find you no longer have a FC.

There's no overwhelming need to be part of a FC if you don't want to be. They're more of a socialization feature than a key part of game play. You'll miss out on getting FC buffs (bonus XP, that sort of thing) but they aren't so important that it would leave you at a major disadvantage compared to those getting the buffs from their FC.

Just to echo what others have said, but ultimately you should just try different stuff out.

If your goal is to meet people and have some socializing, join up.

If you are basically going to go solo player route, a personal FC is a good option as it gives you a company chest and potentially a second house.
