Increasing number of players using 3rd party tools

Well i do not care what other people do, im not here to judge or bash anyone using or not using, mods, act, and other stuff.
But it would be nice to have a clear answer from SE ( i know there has been some) followed by clear facts. If you "yoshi" said that using parser/mods/any 3d party tool is againts the ToS, well i expect that you follow up with facts.

I like some of these tools, and i would like to use them but i dont want to get my account banned, the fact that there is a grey zone is very annoying, and as i said on the first page of the topic, anything that helps you trough fights should be banned, i hate that thing, like DBM on wow is the most stupid thing ever. Its mindblowing how they allow something like that.
If this game starts implementing these addons that give you even a slight advantage or help during a fight, well.... this should be really taken care of.

Parser is another ballpark. As far as i can see parser is a good and useful tool in any game, the only reason why companies do not like to implement it is because of the inevitability of having people harrassing other players because they do not perform as "their" standards because they have a tool to verify their performance. Whats to say here? The mother of the idiots is always pregnant. But the tool itself doesnt give you any help or doesnt give you an edge on a fight.

I think it kind of funny to me that people are afraid to throw some names.

Naguura and limit_maximum are both streaming right now with a heavily modified UI that resemble WoW. If you didn't know, check them out.

If you feel pitty or the need to whiteknight for some entitled, rich Americans that earn more money than you ever will by abusing the political propaganda machine that is twitch AND actively promoting breaking the TOS, that's on you.

It's the very same 'influencers' that destroyed WoW, that are just here to leech off some money and will be gone just as quick. They'll make some video about the flaws of the game or the community, cash em in, cause mass exodus and peace out. They clearly do not give a fuck about the game nor you nor sustainability, which can clearly be observed by their disrespectful behaviour. They are reliant on this game to earn a living, not vice versa. Show some respect for the game's culture.

It's time to hold streamers accountable and call them out for their bullshit. YoshiP clearly stated that he doesn't want to get involved but of course some people see that as an opportunity for abuse forcing him to act.

To be a clear, there is a difference between using mods and promoting mods. Those streamers due to their platform AND awareness should be held fully accountable for doing both blatantly.

Add ons are a MASSIVE part of WoWs culture, though, and the WoW community is transitioning to FFXIV in not small numbers. Since there's nothing really stopping the use of add ons in this game, besides some mild inconvenience and an official/unofficial stance against them, I could see a culture shift happening.

While FF devs have mostly been hands off as long as plugins aren’t disruptive, there is a clear stance on use of 3rd party stuff. Since the majority of SE’ JP players are console based, they will absolutely protect that plug-in free environment if necessary.

Not to say there will be some massive threat or whatever… just that WoW players could very well be in for a rude awakening if they get too carried away, especially streamers who might not even realize their breaking rules. (As in they didn’t really read ToS or just think FF doesn’t care about 3rd party apps)

Like they don’t care if you alt tab to use google. They similarly wouldn’t care if you did texture swaps (like replacing your map files with highlighted areas, but if you started showing it off on a stream….could be bad.

To be honest, this is like the bible. Jesus said: dont kill. Just love eachother. While many people did that, other people formed a church and started a crusade.


Many tools and plugins are kinda useless in my opinion. If you depend on a tool to call out stuff, you should reconsider why you want to raid. I wonder if people can actually say from themself to clear a hard fight, when they did that with support wheels. But on the other hand, very few plugins are making life alot easier, just by adding a feature which is missing in the game very badly (for housing, glamours or taking screenshots).

Just a few examples:
- Do we have a glamour log? - No.
- Can we place housing furniture everywhere in our room? - Only by using glitches. Otherwise no.
- Does the game tell us how we perform? - Nope. Its clear or wipe.
- Can we add DirectX effects ingame? - No
...

It took all of 3 seconds to Google this. There is no excuse if you have a question about are these programs allowed. They clearly are not. There is no debate about it. If you are a streamer and there is video evidence of you using 3rd party programs you are at risk. If you openly admit to using them here in this thread or in game you are at risk. If you harrass others about their dps because you are running a program that records that info you are at risk. Just don't do it, this isn't WoW. it's not allowed here.

Bottom line is:
On the surface/professional level they're not allowed but they don't know what we're doing on our PCs nor will they ever install anything to find that out. If you get reported for putting out someone's numbers, you'll get hit with a harassment penalty. This is basically fight club rules. Do what you want but don't use it to lock people out of content/shame them or you will get smacked in the face with a GM visit.

Whether or not someone wants to use those tools to raid and your opinion on why they're raiding is irrelevant. People can play the game how they want as long as they're not hurting others via harassment or shaming, same as you can. I personally don't use them to assist with fights but at the end of the day, I literally could care less if someone in my party is. It doesn't affect my life if someone wants help remembering their rotation nor do I feel any sort of superiority to that person for not using them.

The real problem here and it's the elephant in the room is people will use these helpful tools to abuse others and shame them or just be miserable. that is the real problem, I am not saying all people but enough have in the past that it's a problem. There are people who are sore losers and can't handle any type of loss or wipe and need to blame others this is true and a fact. So by using common sense SE has said NO to the use of 3rd party programs. This is the old addage we can't have nice things because a few want to ruin it for all.

I feel that this gets brought up because of the recent WoW Streamers turning into FF Streamers and are using many addons (beyond ACT) that people did not know about before. Stuff like weak auras, Cactbot and Trig makes the game so much easier like some 100% reliable pro standing next to you telling you what you need to do and what is about to happen in the fight.
