Yes, another wow refugee posting on your forums. I started playing about two weeks ago, finally gave the game a shot and I am now a proud Miqo'te lion man boy thing .

Your game is absolutely amazing, the sheer breadth of content is staggering, and the community... Just wow! The sheer number of people who offered help, tips, tried to trade me glamour and gil... just absolutely wow!

Don't change! In 3 days of /playtime I've met 2 people that weren't nice... 2!

Sad I haven't tried this before, pretty sure I found my new MMO home, and you guys, gals and everything in between had a huge impact on that decision.
(I also made my sister and half the wow guild play as well lol)

Welcome, and as someone who also came from wow. It is pretty nice. The rules are enforced, so even if you have a problem with someone. You can't just flat out bash them. So it leads to people who are rude to not talk, and that means more chances to get some decent people to shine through. After all, you can have 100 decent runs but the bad ones always stands out more. lol.

The only downside I have with the community is how easily they are offended, or just riled up. I guess that comes with the price of how well protected people are from being hazed. But overall community and gameplay wise this game is top tier for sure.

I come from a pretty competitive background in WoW(Top 100 for the last... decade), but even there I never felt the need to bash people. "You catch more flies with honey" has sort of always been my mantra when gaming.
Having come way further with just explaining stuff to people and being supportive, so I kind of dig that it's the vibe. I already had to simmer down a couple of guild mates that transferred with me , people tend to blur the line between being constructive, and just downright rude sometimes.
But not had that in this game yet , perhaps one player in an alliance raid, but everyone promptly ignored them

I was never really competitive, but I did do mythic raiding was a raid leader. I can understand that point. Myself, I am easily adaptable. I can flourish with any community. Might be the reason why wife says I am a true gemini lol.

We still have that stuff in this game, but it is mostly on discord, and outside the game as you can't say it in the game. I find this balance to be perfect. For people who enjoy a more hardcore nature, and want like minded people that don't mind hazing. They can still build that community but can't unleash it out on others in pug groups.


I think that is key on why the community is so good, but as I said it also comes with a downside of people just not wanting to speak in some cases lol.

Welcome to Eorzea! You will see the occasional bag egg, but we love our sprouts so many people will be friendly and helpful. At the very least, people will be neutral. Glad that you are enjoying the game and that you have found a place to belong.

I have to agree, as a fellow WoW refugee. I’ve been playing seriously for about 1.5 months now, and I have only encountered one rude person (a mentor, of course). Really have been enjoying the game. It was rough trying to enjoy in the beginning, but now I’m hooked.

Unless you're playing 10 hours a day running back to back dungeons, running into 2 jerks in 3 days isn't something I'd be complimenting this community for.
