    Gunbreaker hotbar setups

    Having a hell of a time setting up bars for my gunbreaker. I can't find anything that fits neatly and is comfortable to use. Suggestions?

    I play with controller.

    I typically keep ST on right face buttons and aoe on left, but there's too many abilities to fit in those. Left dpad is hard to hit while moving so I put stuff I don't use while moving there.

    This is really hindering my enjoyment of the job. I want to like it, but I just can't when stuff doesn't flow, yanno?

    TIA.

    This how i play on a controller. Hot bar 1 for stuff i use the most.Then i use expanded control to use both hotbar without ever needing to switch hotbar. Made one macro for bow shock and fated circle to be in one hot key since botth are aoe skill. Put bow shock at the top of the macro so that it would always use first then it will use fated circle for the normal gcd after its used up. The hotbar on top of the chat window is just to see cd. Also made a shirk macro so that it auto target offtank since i'm lazy to target lol.

    Squintina has great controller setup guides and explains her decisions along the way, or you can just skip to the end for the summary.

    Here's her GNB video
    https://youtu.be/ThjvoETLWeA

    I played for a year when ARR was new 8 years ago and came back last August. I was completely lost and overwhelmed with all the changes to existing abilities, new abilities, and outright removal of abilities. She was a life saver. I use her setup for every job now.

    i use my right sided buttons for the basic 1-2-3 combo with burst strike on one trigger, and GF combo with continuation on the other trigger. On the left side of the controller, like the d-pad, I use for common oGCDs and buffs. I know I got bloodfest, blast zone, no mercy, rough divide, bow shock, and sonic break, but i've also got personal raiding stuff like my potion and shirk on there. The important thing is that your whole rotation can be easily seen on the hotbar. This does mean you need to put all your defensive cooldowns in the back. I access those with pressing both triggers. This also means you won't know how long itll be until your cooldown is back up unless you've got an innate feeling for it, or you map out cooldowns to correspond to certain mechanics. Using Heart of Stone can be a pain in this regard because accessing it means more APM, but it's easily overcome with practice.

    It's a bad idea macroing Bow Shock with Fated Circle, since you're still supposed to use it in your ST rotation.

    Just in general never macro combat skills unless it's a targeting macro (Shirk, OT skill, Bubbles) or text macro to let people know who you are raising.

    First, do you use the W bar?

    R2 face buttons are basic combo and burst strike
    R2 dpad is clockwise, blasting zone, gap closer, heart of stone and sonic break
    R2-R2 face is continuation combo
    R2-R2 dpad is tank stance, reprisal, arms length and pot
    L2 face is aoe combo plus bow shock
    L2 dpad is no mercy, aurora, silence, stun
    L2-L2 face is lightning shot and mitigation
    L2-L2 dpad is the "dont want to fatfinger these". Bloodfest, superbolide, heart of light and provoke

    I dont use shirk as I never needed it. If I needed it, I would swap it to replace the pot and move the pot to a new hotbar since it pops once every 4 and a half minutes
    I pretty much dont need knockback immunity either, but I keep it on ever since e4s and hoh gave me a reason to keep it

    I Also play on controller and this is the setup I use that I'm most comfortable with. It uses the W crossbar and the double tap crossbar.

    No Mercy = R2 + Dup | Keen Edge = R2 + Triangle
    Silence Roll Skill = Dright | Brutal Shell = R2 + Circle
    Blood Fest = Ddown | Solid Barrell = R2 + X
    Stun Roll Skill = Dleft | Burst Strike = R2 + Square

    Gnashing Fang = R2 > L2 + Square (This is so it lines up with Burst Strike and makes both cartridge spenders on the same button.)
    Savage Claw = R2 > L2 + Triangle
    Wicked Talan = R2 > L2 + Circle
    Continuation = R2 > L2 + X

    Aurora = L2 + Dup | Danger Zone = L2 + Triangle
    Nebula = L2 + Dright | Lighting Shot = L2 + Circle
    Heart of Stone = L2 + Ddown | Bow Shock = L2 + X
    Rampart = L2 + Dleft | Rough Divide = L2 + Square

    Arm's Length = L2 > R2 + Dup | Demon Slice = L2 > R2 + Triangle
    Heart of Light = L2 > R2 + Dright | Demon Slaughter = L2 > R2 + Circle
    Camouflage = L2 > R2 + Dleft | Fated Circle = L2 > R2 + Square
    Sonic Break = L2 > R2 + X

    Double Tap L2 + Triangle = Royal Guard
    Double Tap L2 + Circle = Provoke
    Double Tap L2 + Square = Shirk
    Double Tap L2 + X = Superbolide

    I also have Hotbar 2 sitting above my Crossbar with Sonic Break Gnashing Fang and my L2 > R2 defensive abilities so that I can see when they come off cool down.

    alright, a Controller hotbar setup for Gunbreaker... I have GunBreaker at Lv68, but my hotbar is already set up for Lv70, and it looks like this...

    R2 + X = Keen Edge
    R2 + O = Brutal Shell
    R2+ square = Solid Barrel
    R2 + triangle = Burst Strike

    R2 + down arrow key = Demon Slice
    R2 + right arrow key = Demon Slaughter
    R2 + left arrow key = Heart of Stone
    R2 + up arrow key = Sonic Break

    L2 + X = Gnashing Fang
    L2 + O = Continuation
    L2 + square = Savage Claw
    L2 + triangle = Wicked Talon

    L2 + down arrow key = Rough Divide
    L2 + right arrow key = Danger Zone
    L2 + left arrow key = Bow Shock
    L2 + up arrow key = No Mercy

    R1 + R2 + X = Lightning Shot
    R1 + R2 + O = Low Blow
    R1 + R2 + square = Interject
    R1 + R2 + triangle = Aurora

    R1 + R2 + down arrow key = Rampart
    R1+ R2 + right arrow key = Camoflage
    R1 + R2 + left arrow key = Nebula
    R1 + R2 + up arrow key = Heart of Light

    R1 + L2 + X = Provoke
    R1 + L2 + O = Royal Guard
    R1 + L2 + triangle = Superbolide

    R1 + L2 + down arrow key = Reprisal
    R1 + L2 + right arrow key = Arm's Length
    R1 + L2 + left arrow key = Shirk
    R1 + L2 + up arrow key = Sprint

    this works well for me, no idea how well it will work out for any other person, but you can give this a fair attempt, if you want to.

    Sorry I'm late.

    I use the R2+L2 and L2+R2 combos for shared stuff, teleport/return, limit break, mounts, etc. So those are out. Double tap bars + face buttons are for commonly used buffs and defensives, arrow keys on the left bar are awkward to use while moving so I'm unsure what to put there. I really dislike bar switching but I suppose I'll have to.

    I'll give some of these a go tomorrow, see how they flow. I usually keep ST on right, AoE on left. Not sure I mentioned that. My DRK, WAR and PLD are set up similarly. As is DNC, RDM and others(the ST/AoE setups) so I'd prefer to keep them that way(muscle memory).

    Thanks for the suggestions!
