Ah, I see, thank you for the history lesson. So it's safe to say they added them under... extenuating circumstances? Would be a shame if those were all we're ever gonna get...The original Sky Pirate and Sky Rat gear was locked behind the original Diadem. Since that version is no longer available, they made the Replica crafted versions, and unlocked them from class restrictions to make them more enticing to lure more crafters into the Ishgard Restoration.
I don't particularly care too much if it makes sense or not, I was just saying that I think stuff like swimwear is different than gear drops.
Because it's essentially cosmetic fluff and not '' canon '' if that makes sense.

The armor restrictions are all over the place.
For the most part tank/drg share looks, but then there are multiple situation where it is tank/melee, tank/nin, tank/ranged, caster, healer...
And that is not to mention all the gear that simply got no restrictions at all like a moogle costume.
Some of my favorite tank outfits are stuck with an obnoxious cape or tench coat while the ranged variant does not, why can't i use the aiming variant when it got the exact same amount of protection?

Before Viera and Hrothgar there were Miqo'te and Roegadyn, and even before those there were Mithra and Galka...
I'll always be an advocate for removing most glamour restrictions between race/job/gender. especially in the case of FF.
GW2 kinda showed me that there's really good way to introduce racially locked gear, and FF just doesn't compare in the slightest. The only armor sets that truly stand apart and hit almost the same level of visual nuance that I feel is required to make gear totally locked are the grand company and artifact sets. everything else should be fair game so long as you have the job to that level.

And even in GW2 there are multiple instances of other races using the race locked gear, so the restrictions are well... Moot.I'll always be an advocate for removing most glamour restrictions between race/job/gender. especially in the case of FF.

Save for Charr due to their different body shape.
I am 100% behind this. It's how XI handles their glamour options, and it adds SO much variety to the outfits you can come up with. It's a lot of fun. :3

nah its not a step back, xi's style lock was implemented AFTER xiv's glamours due to demand. it also works very differently.
and theres no gear locking by job or role in xi, even job gear can be equipped as a different job afaik. if you die from bad stats thats your problem
