    Glamour and its future?

    Hey there,

So i've been thinking a lot about this recently but currently our characters can be every job which is great but when it comes to glamours we can only glamour for those jobs even if our character technically meets the requirements for the glamour. My suggestion would be to expand glamour by letting us glamour a set to another as long as our character meets its requirements. for example you find a super nice bard lvl 55 cosmetic which you want to glamour to your lvl 80 paladin and your bard is lvl 60 then you have to option to glamour it. Most people tend to use armour which can be glamoured to several sets without issue so we already have a few that but i would love to see this expanded to add way more customisation for our character. we have a ton of sets like pvp which are specific to certain jobs and wont get re-released as a dow/dom cosmetic with this idea we would be able to use those without hoping for a re-release.
    TL: DR
let me monkey on all my jobs ty

Apparently that's how it works in FFXI nowadays!

Needless to say I would be all for it, it would be ample motivation to try and level classes I have no interest in, as things stand

Yoshi has stated in the past why he does not allow mixing gear between Jobs/classes, in that he wants to maintain the specific image of each class (it's particularly related to Artifact Armour or AF which is basically that Job's distinctive outfit, it's uniform if you will - and so he doesn't want a PLD wearing a WHM AF robe for instance). So I do not see him changing this.

Also in regards to FFXI's 'style lock' glamour system, it's actually locked to only allowing gear wearable by your current Job (if you change Jobs the style lock is deactivated and the glamour appearence deleted), but players found a way around that and exploited it - because SE ignored it players then thought "oh that's by design", except it isn't and it's just that SE didn't consider it that harmful and just let it slide.

Given FFXI is in it's Indian Summer, no wonder they're less flustered about things like that than they are here in FFXIV.

Thing is... every one of these threads I've seen everyone has agreed that AF gear should stay class-specific, people aren't asking that those be made available to everyone. And quite honestly at this point I'm seeing more people dressed like they belong in The Sims™ than people looking like their class is supposed to or whatever, so the devs were trying to enforce that then I'd say they've failed...

Ah, I didn't know about the style lock thing being a glitch, talk about a happy accident...

Exactly this you could keep the artifact sets unique to those jobs but when its like a pvp set for example the Nue set which has a unique look but doesn't match a specific job like artifact armour does why cant it be unlocked for all to use? i get the importance of artifact gear being specific job only but most people just use looks that are available to all dow/dom to have several sets they can use across several roles. i think making it so you can use as long as you meet the equip requirements shouldn't be an issue and i think a lot of people would be up for this idea as it opens up more glamour oppertunities. TL: DR keep artifact sets unique to jobs but open up other sets
