Same opinion as i have to seasonal stuff in other games.
All rewards should be added to a pool of rewards you can chose from.
Latecomer to the game? No problem you can still get that one awesome looking thing that was released two years ago.
Failed to meet the criteria for a reward you want? No problem you can try again next season.
Fear of missing out mechanics are just predatory and you can only have so much fomo before people stops caring about even trying.

Yep. FOMO is bad for customers.Same opinion as i have to seasonal stuff in other games.

But you get a gold medal.
And they look a lot a like, they kinda the same aside the date.
You just sound like you don't like actual competition. Some people likes to purchase accounts with those mounts. What ACTUAL value do they have as rewards if they are not in hands of actually good players?
Ultimate content can be purchased by gil and the devs bat an eye. If you wanted to support an exclusive reward system like that, you would agree that it would be great if only the first 8 players to finish an Ultimate get the drops, then the duty is removed forever and it's rewards with it.
"The will of my friends has etched into my heart, and now ill transform this infinite darkness into eternal light
Unmatched in heaven and earth, one body and one soul that challenge the gods!"
Regardless of how you personally feel about the PVP rewards, at the end of the day, this game is about one thing:
Money.
How does it make money? Subscriptions.
How do you get subscriptions? Entice people with shiny things.
How do you get shiny things? Doing stuff in game. Sometimes stuff that takes a LOOOOONG time. But said shiny things are always available for you if you're willing to learn, put forth the effort, and practice.
Locking rewards per season per 100 players across the data center is detrimental to the growth of the game. It encourages the very behavior we all hate - win trading, botting, pay-to-win (and worse, griefing, doxxing, stalking).
Crafting did the same thing for a time (it reared its ugly head back during Ishgard Restoration rankings... I hope they learned from that). Crafting used to be a huge time sink and you had to unlock ALL of them to 60 to get all the cross-class skills. So of course crafting bots sprang up to minimize the drudgery.
What'd SE do to attract more people to craft? They made it more accessible so that newcomers would want to try it out and get good at it. They made rewards through Ishgard enticing enough to where people would want to do it.
Remember Diadem's first incarnation? It wasn't bad but you had gatherers vs. fighters and that created a huge rift. So SE took it down and redid it only fighters OR gatherers (if I remember right) and sucked all the fun right out of it. Back to the drawing board they went and finally made a Diadem that's actually helpful to players when leveling and has good rewards (scrips and gil). PVP needs this same treatment...all PVP, not just Feast (but especially Feast).
Remember when desynthesis would delevel you in one class and raise your level in another, and you could only really get good at THREE classes? I do. And I went through the time to get really good at three of them and could desynth anything. Got really wealthy from it too.
Then they opened up desynthesis to the masses. Now you have a chance at getting something good, but you could still just be starting out in desynth and working your way up through it.
You don't see me over here losing my damn mind because they made it more accessible to the masses. I love it! I want more people to make a ton of gil! I love seeing new crafters! I want more people to PVP! That's what makes a healthy game environment. More accessibility, not less.
(and for the record, I still want people to PVP for those rewards. Not frontline either. Frontline is a clown show). But making them more accessible and making PVP not so reliant on microsecond movements (looking at you, Hallowed Ground that went off and I died anyway behind a wall,) would do a world of good for that part of the game, rather than just letting it die.
And before anyone comes out with "BuT WoW HaS LiMiTeD PvP ReWaRdS" yeah, let's NOT look at WoW as a pristine model of how to do stuff in FFXIV please. At all.
Number 1 - There are 8 datacenters, Japan and Europe are not datacenters, Japan is a country and Europe is a region of countries.
Number 2 - You said 6 datacenters, then you list 3 datacenters and 2 others. You can't count, so let's do this together.
1 - Aether
2 - Crystal
3 - Primal
4 - Chaos
5 - Light
6 - Elemental
7 - Gaia
8 - Mana
See that wasn't so hard, was it.
I largely disagree for an MMO setting. The game is ever breathing and living. Having limited items from events are almost fundamental to it.Same opinion as i have to seasonal stuff in other games.

It a game where it's an never ending grind, people enjoy having that something special. Not everything should be always available, otherwise nothing is special.
And it's not like equivalent rewards aren't continually added. "Sorry you didn't get this blue object, but hey the red version is right here for the taking next time."

I know why pvp is bad and in my opinion they should change pve.
Here bosses do abilities when they finish casts not when animation finishes.
BUT players abilities do not happen on your button press but on ANIMATION finish .
So npcs have faster response and more fluid gameplay :P.
Ps and cool rewards only for top 100 surely does not make anyone to play.
