Who is your least favorite major character and why?

Mine is Cid. He's just so shamelessly bland... so insufferably milquetoast. Considering how memorable many of his iterations have been over the years (the drunken, chain smoking space man of FF7; the magitek genius of FF6, whose suspect stylistic misadventures lead him to don a coat that made his sprite look like a hot dog [and who died if he wasn't fed the tastiest fish]; the Oglop-cursed King of Lindblum in FFIX, etc.), this Cid just seems... forgettable. And I think it's made even worse by the fact that he's the character the story defaults to whenever it needs an 'everyman' for a plot thread; like - hey, it's Bozjan and we're here to-- TIME TO GO INSIDE CID'S HEAD! And so on...

Cid is kinda dull imo, I don't really understand why so many like him.
I'd say that Minfillia gets too much shit but I do agree that there is a problem with show don't tell with her.
The game spent too much time telling us about how important she was instead of showing it, to some extent that makes sense since she wasn't a combatant and out in the field ( Not every character needs to be like that btw... Being a good fighter is not a requirement to be a good character ).
But like there's times where other characters are sent when she could've gone herself and made herself more useful in the eyes of the player.
Especially as a representative.

Hate is a very strong word, like with Minfillia for example I can agree that she wasn't very well-written and that her deeds weren't really portrayed which made her feel useless.
But there's a difference between that and HATING the character.
I can't really think of a character I legit '' hate ''.

Same goes for other characters too I can't think of one that is just so bad that I hate, and then I look at the extreme levels of hate Minfillia and Lyse take ( for many things that other characters are guilty off too ) and it always seems so petty to me.
Only character that got somewhat close to that at some point for me was Alphinaud when he was at his lowest emo phase with the whole Crystal Braves thing but now he's my bro.
But at one point I kinda just wanted to leave him behind.

I don't think there are any characters I outright dislike, honestly. Even Zenos I really like.

If I had to pick one it would be Lyse, not because I actively dislike her but because she hasn't been used in an interesting way in quite a while. Hopefully Endwalker she will have another chance to shine. Thancred can be rough for me too if only because he seems to get a personality reset each expansion.

I actually like Zenos as a villain too.
He's not very complex but at the same time we've already had more complex villains.
For just a big bad finale boss I don't really mind a more simplistic villain that you just reaaaally want to kill.

Just like how I don't think a character needs to be a combatant to be a good character I don't think a character needs to have some deep soap opera motivations either.
I think Zenos is really good for what he's supposed to be.

I was actually going to say Zenos. But then I was reminded that Lyse exists.
...So now it's Lyse. Because remember she existed made me remember all the nothing she did in 4.0 and how much her face showing up ever completely soured any scene easily.

Ahem... I have to say my least favourite (and outright despised) character is Zenos. All the other enemies I came to despise throughout the story at least SE killed off, and many I came to actually not only appreciate but outright love, but Zenos lacks any redeeming qualities, and couldn't even stay dead, and is now just a crazy stalker burning the whole world down around him in his obsession for his stupid "one last battle" with the WoL.

I just want to be rid of him and his stupid prettyboy hair already.

Oh, and I have to make a special shout-out to Ryne, who's "yes Senpai!" relationship with Thrancred was cringe (and felt more than a bit inappropriate) from start to finish, capped off by giving the character a name that sounded like a combination of whine and rind. Like, I can't even look at her without seeing this anymore:

Definitely Zenos. He was fine for a single expansion, but all he's done since then is kill any tension and interest in the Empire. Varis had an interesting angle with Elidibus, seeing them maneuvering around each other, but NOPE! Zenos not only drives Elidibus out, he kills Varis.....mostly off-screen, so we don't even get to see it. And then he ditches the Empire....and then changes his mind, hooks up with Fannypack, and turns the Empire from arguably well-intentioned but with horrifying methods, to just "whoops, they're all brainwashed now" generic baddies. And for all of it, Zenos still has no motivation for any of it, except that he's bored.

Zenos is narrative cancer, and I look forward to him dying forever and going away.

I think that covers many of my issues with him as well. Fandaniel at least has some potential to be interesting, given that he apparently harbours some secret, and he's at least amusing to watch, but Zenos hasn't even got any of that going for him...

It is easily Zenos followed closely by G'raha Tia.

The funny thing is I would have liked them both a lot more if there was less content of them. G'raha played his part, but he is still around just now in fanboy form. Zenos just doesn't go away. It's not scary. It's not interesting. It's just annoying.
