Of course people can care about the rewards and I know that the majority just wants the rewards. But to declare the whole event as bad just because people don't get the rewards they want or were expecting to get, isn't right in my opinion. To be fair events lately have been absolutely horrible, so i don’t blame people for assuming. That said i think it’s a bit weird to think people wouldn’t care a lot about the rewards. They’re the main pull for many people to do the events and it’s something many look forward to. The rising rewards are typically highly sought after as they’re minions of very popular npcs. The fact we can’t even get a minion and they’re just giving us a parasol with a consumable item like the other hundreds we have just leaves a poor taste in my mouth….
Well looking at the summer event for example. All it consisted of was a fate. No more jumping puzzle. Rising is just typically talk to this npc then that one and here ya go. Brief cutscene and poem and then your reward. The rewards essentially are the event.

They probably are dealing with the "fibilazing endwalker after Covid delays" part of the development cycle, but since everyone would throw fits if they skipped the events (like all saints wake last year) they did them will less rewards due to time constraints.
Don't worry I'm sure you can have Lyse's outfit for $13.99 eventuallyI'd prefer Ala Mhigo's Lyse outfit (and I'd like him to change Tataru's old outfit one day, the only potato I accept and like besides Papalymo and maybe also the adopted son of the ex-general of Immortals).
Tataru who made a very strange outfit for the WoL before leaving on Shadowbringer of category uh...
She redid all the outfits of Scion to stay with an old pink toga, while she had a nice kimono in Stormblood.
I mean an Emet minion has been requested for quite a long time, even before covid. I don’t see how difficult it would be to make one. Plus isn’t the whole, “taking extra months delay” for the expansion supposed to make up for the covid stuff? I would expect they do events ahead of time…

They develop everything concurrently. It's why ultimate got pushed, they needed the designer for that for the 6.0 raidsI mean an Emet minion has been requested for quite a long time, even before covid. I like The Rising. I'd like it even more of they'd give us a glimpse of what is to come like they did in the dev room that time.
Whats frustrating is there'd be a ton of minions but they used some on Merchandise... or keep it for that.

Frankly, I couldn't care less about the vast majority of events, I usually expect the rewards to not be appealing to me, and am pleasantly surprised when I see a mount or half decent glamour. For a large portion of time they would give out housing items that I couldn't even use, because I didn't have a house (or apartment). I cannot say I was specifically looking forward to this event. I do read the storylines, but I don't care much about them. I actually do most events at the very last minute, because I can't ever get myself to do them during most of the event.

One of the earliest iterations had us visiting the 18th floor, which was modeled after the floor the FF14 devs used for planning and coding of the game. It had pictures of the various art for the game, we got to meet NPC versions of the dev team, things like that. It has always been an interesting event. Last year we got to do a small quest picking up trash after the Moonfire Faire, and find bottles containing letters from people we've helped in our quest sending us well wishes and things like that. One of the years prior to that we had a small NES style dungeon crawler with a puzzle we had to solve.
