I regret not doing Extreme/Savage years ago.

So for some context, I started endgame last year in lockdown, and I so wish I hadn't had so many misconceptions about it and had tried it years ago, because I am having a blast.
I have completed all Shadowbringers Extremes, I was completed E9S -E11S and I'm currently progging E12S.

I was just so scared to even try it, I thought I had to perform perfectly and that Endgame was toxic. This I have found is absolutely not the case. I have been progging Savage on my own in the PF and most people, are patient, extremely helpful and won't yell at you if you get something wrong. The End game community as a whole are great they will link you with resources on rotations, offer tips and advice and show you how to play your role. I also learned in a practice party I don't need to do my rotation perfectly because I'm just learning the mechanics, the rotation will naturally come back up to a high performance when I have learnt the mechanics.

There are 1 or 2 people that have been toxic yes, but that's like with anything, you are always going to get a few bad apples.

I wish more people would try Endgame fights and not be put off like I was, I am in no means the best player, far from it, but I enjoy it. I wish Square would put in more resources into the game to teach us how to play properly. I am super excited for End Walker and to try Savage when it is current.

Did you have any misconceptions about Extremes/Savage? What can be done to lift the stigma and encourage more people to try it?

I think for most people it's quite intimidating at first, specially for those like me who come from extremely toxic games like WoW where a single mistake will get you instantly kicked from a party.

But yeah once you join any of those practice groups and you realize everyone is kind and comprehensive, the fear goes away.

I'd rather have an aggressive toxic player in my party than a happy UWU ignoring mechanics and doing negative DPS.

A lot of the labeling of Savage/EX as toxic comes from players who walk in there expecting a carry and are given the links with resources on rotations, tips, advice and help with playing their role that you mentioned, but react aggressively to them. Quite a large number of people see this friendly help as "toxic" and that creates a lot of the reputation endgame content has received.

For those misconceptions to vanish, the playerbase's attitude towards challenging content and working as a team rather than only for your own benefit or gain, would have to change.

if you can deal with making mistakes that's ok, it's not learning from your mistakes that's the bad part of trying to progress.

I lol at anyone that does that in a practice party. If anyone start to get a tantrum going I remind them it's a practice party, then if they dont quieten down I kick them.
I find though with clear parties it's a bit different 1 or 2 wipes if fine anything past that is a pain. You just gotta judge whether you are near a kill in one of those and whether it's worth sticking with the party if you can see a kill.
I havent had to deal with much drama compared to nice parties but when I do I either kick or disband and try again. Like I said the majority are super helpful and this is doing it in pf on my own.

There are many avenues to go on to feel encouraged with trying out endgame content, yet keep in mind that you would also come across very competitive & unruly players and apply that as it is in the real world, plenty good & bad apples.

It is not so much a stigma but rathe to individuals anxiety & fear of being shamed upon due to failure & trying.

This can lead to greatly feel discouraging & also promote some sense of false judgement on endgame content when in truth its some of the playerbase that likes to deemed it as or reinforce elitism.

Nothing wrong with endgame content, it creates challenges, it creates friends, and also distressing or feeling of “inadequacy”,

    It’s a gray area,

PS: As coming from WoW, FFXIV’s savage/raid groups are far mellow, mature & truly embracing. WoW felt Spartan & just fostered that bad ideal
