I have a big problem with all-day all-night mass Limsa afkers.

I already filed a complaint about people afking in Limsa(Afk chair symbol 24/7) using keyboard software for the past 2-3 years and and they have half a dozen or more people doing it now, it started small. I requested it to be investigated about a week ago by filing a complaint through the cheating function, Nobody got back to me about whether or not it would be. Maybe they just haven't gotten back to me yet. I thought SE takes this stuff seriously.

***I have a friend who's trying to get his wife into the game using the free trial but she can't login half the time because of the login queues, now they're frustrated, this is why I find this afking unacceptable, people are trying to login and can't because these people are being selfish looking for in-game world fame/popularity and it's completely ridiculous. If nothing is done or I don't hear back I guess I'll record a video for one to two hours long undeniably proving they are afking using keyboard software, you can't get around it out in the open otherwise. I'll then I'll show SE and the FB groups what selfishness look like.

This also sets a really bad precedent for the game as its freely allowing players to learn of keyboard software and all it's functionalities and potential, now they're using it for spamming housing plots and fate grinding and DoL activities, I realize this stuff has been around since the beginning but this kind of laziness is fueling it and allowing it spread throughout the game. People can tell me people are going to do this anyways and I'll definitely believe them, but people can't deny that this isn't boosting that process along with nothing being done about it.

Do something, please SE. This isn't harmless, it's unhealthy behavior and unhealthy for the game. Investigate and start with a warning.

I'd like some community feedback, even though I know how that usually goes - Have you or any friends not been able to login because of queue times? Do you think SE should start investigating these mass citystate all day afkers? Do you think it's pointless? How? Why? Would it not do a thing? How? why? Would it help with getting at least SOME people online? How? Why?

There are multiple ways to beat the AFK timer right now and most of them would require more than a two second fix in order to be removed entirely from the game. Some like the marketboard glitch would require different systems be put in place to punt the AFKer out of the marketboard interface. Where as others that are managed entirely client side are downright impossible to effectively deal with, without fundamentally changing the AFK system to account for them. Best we can hope for is that their rush orders on those server parts come in clutch before Endwalker drops and to encourage others to log out when they aren't otherwise engaged.

There's no selfishness involved.

People don't login and afk with the game flawed system & infrastucture in mind.
No matter what you do, we all pay for the same service and the majority of people go in game and that's all. No evil plan.

That's on Square to appropriately adjust their game so that people can enjoy it the way they want.
That's not us, player to do so. And even so, like I said, not everyone is fully aware of what's behind the scene and why "they should't be doing that".

Besides, the game's popular currently so yeah, expect some queue time, AFKer or not (there's already an auto-kick fonction anyway past the 30min of inactivity)

What proof do you have they using any 3rd party applications to avoid the afk kick?

Seems conspiracical to me.

Your friends could always pick a different server if they can't bother to buy the game and try it out for a month.
The afk-kick is a joke as well, everyone knows how to avoid it so it doesn't even serve it's purpose.

I don't see you making a case for your claims so what else are we to believe.?
What part of TOS is being breached by afking? What proof can you provide to backup your claims?

The long term solution is multiple things.

1). Make a real AFK timer. If you can afk while being interacting with a npc/retainer or other menus then what is the point?

2). Increase amount of players able to be online at one point or introduce sharding or something (we know they already work on solving this, especially for EU that probably has it worse than NA past few weeks).

Seriously, this all was predictable. If you disconnect the players when they are afk for a longer period of time and they then have to wait in a queue when they log in again then they will prevent the disconnect. Which makes the queue longer because more players are connected. And because the queue is so long then more players will prevent the disconnect which ends with longer queues. If you want disconnect afk players then do it right or don't do it at all. Such 40%-solutions make things worse.

Yeah. There's a guy on my server who dresses as an armored moogle, pops a clone of himself, and does the vanu vanu dance. He does that all. Day. LONG. I have never been to Limsa Lominsa and not seen him there - it's been years now, and this is what this person does; this is how they 'play' FFXIV - by AFKing as some ridiculous moving statue.

I am really curious as to why silly things like NPC conversations and the HUD edit interface allow people to bypass the auto-kick so easily.

Though honestly, even if they did "fix" those things, there's still a whole mess of individuals who resort to third party methods of avoiding the auto-kicks and that number would likely increase if the in-game methods were patched out.
