How to promote to Samurai with Boost

So I recently came back, and boosted my main character to 70 for Samurai. My only classes i have are:

Lvl 70 Gunbreaker
lvl 71 Dark Knight
lvl 78 Samurai.

I want to level up my retainer and use her as a Samurai. I was being lazy, bought the retainer boost to 70 as well. I tried to boost my retainer to lvl 70, but it says I need to assign a class to it first, but the option to pick Samurai isnt there. Am i forced to level the retainer to lvl 50 with the older classes first? I don't care about the older classes (I am not even a lvl 50 warr).

Am i doing something wrong?

You have to first assign a base class. Then use a Modern Vocation book to change the retainer to another job once it is adequately leveled.

I get that, but I don't have a "base" class. My main is a 78 samurai that was boosted as well. So is the only way to assign my retainer a Samurai, I have to go back and level a older class? The website is quite misleading then. It just says it will boost to 70, as long as my character is 70 or higher also. Well, my character is a 70 samurai. I don't have any of those base classes.

GNB, DRK, and SAM are all jobs you have to unlock. What did you choose at character creation?

I believe I created a lvl 7 warrior. Then boosted to DRK long time ago. My retainer has the option to become a warrior, but since i am only lvl 7 with it, her max level is 7.

Then, unfortunately, you'll need to level Warrior a bit more so your retainer can level some more and reach the point where they can swap to Sam.
