Game crashes / closes when entering Stone Vigil

New to this game, that having been said, it has worked for weeks now perfectly, but now I have a main story quest to enter the Stone Vigil, and no matter what I have tried, the game just closes after its loaded.

Seeing a lot of issues after having looked this up that are similar where the game crashes and the same issues are always blamed, update graphics drivers etc, but nothing rarely works for them. Is there any resolution for this old issue, or is that it for this game for me?

Tried downgrading card drivers
Disabled GPU scaling
Put card in Debug Mode / Back to factory settings
Removed FPS limiter
Lowered graphic settings
Scanned PC for issues via Command prompt

Do I need to complete the main story quest to go to the Stone Vigil dungeon to keep going and get onto the first expansion?

uh, I don't think I will reinstall it, the computer was formatted and the game installed straight afterwards in the first place, I think it's best to just remove the game, too many others having crashing issues at the moment with no replies from SE and due to this design, I cannot progress in the game.
