I mean, seriously, I think there are 3 instances of "The Zenos Fight" where we're about to win and he just pushes a "No, I win" button on his hotbar or something and gets to win in the cinematic. And when we finally win at the end of a Dungeon with an extra Trial just to put an extra point on how hard we won, we come BACK into doing "The Zenos Fight" all over again, now with 70% less kit.

Playing with other characters is awesome, Shadowbringers have some incredible highlights with that. Playing "The Zenos Fight" is infuriating.
I agree with you that the early Zenos fights made mockery of the story as well as committing the crime of taking control away from the player. Bosses with 'I win' buttons should be banned from games, they are with out a doubt infuriating. They didn't even have to do that. Why throw him in with the hero off the bat? It made no sense.

IMO, many of the combat scenarios in the MSQ are poorly designed.

I say this because many take away from the story and destroy immersion, rather than support the story and increase immersion.

Being dropped out of an emotionally engaging and significant story cut scene into a frustrating (non-intuitive, no instructions, play as an NPC) and/or long and boring combat scenario (bullet sponge / invincible enemy, one damage ability NPC) doesn't endear me to the story, it just ticks me off.

Stop making me play as an NPC with limited abilities (unless it's a short and engaging scenario with a satisfying and NPC fitting 'auto win' type conclusion - see the Ruby Weapon scenario in post ShB for a decently done NPC scenario), stop expecting me to keep NPCs alive if I'm not a healer (and even then put them in party with me), and let me pick the difficulty upfront (more to avoid crap like failing to some 'haha gotcha' gimmick or an idiot NPC standing in bad and dying while the boss is at 2% after wasting ten minutes fighting pointless trash and spamming one ability at a bullet sponge)
