I do not like many charakters in the game. But the reasons are different.

Tataru, because she is a Lalafel
Zenos, because he is an one dimensional standard villain
    Fandaniel, see Zenos
Yda/Lyse, because she is a useless b*tch and she has so a high pitching voice

    Cheers

    In no particular order:

Lyse: wasted potential, I could relate to her about the whole "I'm emotionally lost and broken and don't know what to do" phase, but I didn't like how we jumped from that to her becoming a nation leader - heck even she herself acknowledged not to be ready, let alone worthy, but the narrative just yeeted her into a pedestal nonetheless and left her there. Also, Raubahn was robbed from the spotlight in the Ala Mhigo arc, because a pretty blonde young woman being front and center attracts a lot more attention than some rugged bara bait war veteran.

Zenos: another wasted potential [so far]. I kinda see the appeal they want to go with him, with 'inherently evil/unredeemable' characters and all that, but the guy is just too passive and not threatening at all. How can I be invested in a character when he himself is so bored he falls asleep on his throne half the time.

Asahi/Fandaniel: they're literally the same person, let's be honest. It's like they regretted killing him off and brought him back as "someone else", and even then he's just obnoxious - I'm surprised Zenos hasn't put a sword through his neck to shut him up. I always want to skip the "meanwhile in the Empire..." cutscenes.

Thancred: his own issues aside, I absolutely hated his not-Sasuke treatment of Ryne earlier on the MSQ. Even other characters agree he's being a douche but nobody stops him either, I wish I could've punched him more than once.

Disonorable mention: The entirety of Ishgardian society. I didn't help them, I helped the dragons. Religious zealots can burn for all I care. Even if no longer the case, that's pretty much the reason why I'm hesitant about Ishgard housing - I like places like Ishgard....but I don't like Ishgard /vexed

also, letting yotsuyu, an amnesic pow, roam around without supervision so that she can run away to summon a primal and yet, he gets no blame for that despite it being his fault (meanwhile, lyse gets a lot of hate for a very similar thing, despite the fact she had no way of knowing the guards were enthralled and aiding the rogue snakewomen, that's on her for trying to be diplomatic, right?)
there are various other things that completely put me off the character that I can't remember right now, but those two are the major ones

I don't care if he's good looking and has a well spoken voice actor because that doesn't make or break a character for me
    He's also quite one dimensional.
If we want to declare my trash Zenos as being one dimensional chaotic then Hien is the one dimensional good boi.
He's very much forgettable. Like sure, he's got that aesthetic going on, but other than that he's boring.

    I really hate Cid.

He is so boring and bland and unlikable and ruins almost every side quest...

I can stand boring Zenos and Lyse because they don't have that much screentime. But Cid? He is everywhere /o.@\
And then he acts like we are some friends or something. Please just go away old man.

It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.

I'd argue that Hien isn't one dimensional, though. Especially when compared to Zenos. Imagine, for a moment, that it was Yotsuyu rather than Hien who decided to flood Doma Castle and sent the invading Doman forces to a grim and watery grave crushed beneath debris? The narrative would be that such an act is 'unforgivable', especially with how cruel a death drowning happens to be. Yet in reality, it is Hien who embraces such a plan in order to minimise losses where his people are concerned. In addition to that, he effectively drags the Xaela into a war that does not concern them so that his people are exposed to less danger as a consequence. He hides a tactical, opportunistic and somewhat sinister mind behind all the charm. Then, of course, there's the way in which he simply wanted to brush the issue of Yotsuyu under the rug as an inconvenience.

He was never really presented as a perfect hero whose every decision was perfect and without consequence. Which makes him inherently more intriguing and interesting than most of the other City State leaders who bend over backwards to apologise for their supposed sins.

Emet-Selch because he caused so many deaths and he shouldn't be redeemable.

Good guys: Not a fan of Lyse. I just didn’t find her to be a character I liked interacting with and the voice was equally unpleasant if you use english.

Bad guys: Zenos. Don’t even need to explain.

If anything, that makes him far less one-dimensional than some of the other "good" guys. As far as the city state leaders go, he is by far the most interesting, IMO.
