Perhaps a more agreeable rationalization would have been "what Jifuya did was reprehensive, but it was legal at the time (slavery is still a thing in Ul'dah, and prostitution is a thing in Kugane, so this practice might have been a thing in Doma even before Garlemald came), and right now my kingdom is on very rocky ground and I can't go around punishing people who fought for me for stuff they did back then, lest I risk losing support". We had similar moral greyness with Merlwyb warring with the Sahagin back in the ARR patches, or Nanamo choosing to reject the Ala Mhigan refugees (using the law as her shield) but then breaking that very same law to try to welcome the Doman refugees.

That’s better put yeah. True too, it’s something i always thought was weird. A lot of people call Hien out for it but like…Uldah has the same issue. All the city states are scummy and shady.

Well, he seemed to do that too with her sister as well back before the Calamity, but Yda at least had the mind to give as good as she got and snapped back at him for it.



I guess Lyse tried a little too hard pretending to be her by acting too empty headed and thus her big reveal kind of seemed a little cheap as a result. I still liked both of them though, they were the first npcs in the game I ever encountered when I first begun my journey in FFXIV back in 1.0 in 2011.

I was gonna say Papalymo, because on his own he was annoying. Buuuuut when paired with Yda (Lyse), the two actually had entertaining chemistry. Probably explains why Lyse isn't that exciting of a character on her own now that he's gone.

Yeah, the moment Papalymo was axed, Yda became a wooden shoe. She was basically nothing without his foil to play off of, and the inverse was true.

Honestly, there were Scions I would have offed before the lalafel. And I feel like the replacements they're coming up with - like G'raha Tia and Ryne - are significantly weaker than what we started with.
