The devs have a story they want to tell. It's a story that all players are suppose to experience at their own pace, assuming they didn't just sit in one of the capitals making shoes or chairs for the last few years. So yes, the devs feel that the ability for someone to watch the cinematic for the first time trumps your ability to run the dungeon a couple minutes faster. Why does this fact surprise anyone? Square-Enix has always prioritized telling a story. In most FF games the cut scenes are unskippable. And if they can be skipped, they can only be skipped after seeing it once.

I have a solution to the problem though! Alas! There is this small box on your screen with words in it. Some say it is the fabled gasp chat box.

You can use this little window to express your desire or lack of desire to the other non npc players in your party. Do not have time for cutscene? Wish to skip or obtain chests inside of a dungeon? No problemo! This lala over here has you covered!

Just click that little window and type out a message to your party. Inform the new player that you can re-watch cutscenes inside of your inn room. It kinda removes the whole "why did they pull without me" or "why are they making me wait" conflict because well, now everyone understands what is occurring.

Sheesh.. I am beginning to suspect that my partner's pops is correct and many cannot understand that this is not a single player Final Fantasy game. Grow up. I have never ever never seen behavior like this be so fricken common in any other multiplayer game.

Others have mentioned already but this is why we have that little ring at the start of dungeons and trials. It is also why wipes still happen in Labyrinth on the Atmos fight. If you pull before everyone is inside other players are telewarped into alliance A fight.. if too many are new there will not be enough in the other zones.
Not always a working solution. For some reason the chat interface on my PS4 was not working for me tonight, and my bluetooth keyboard had ran out of power just as a dungeon started.
