Okay. I know blue mages are meme. But hear me out.
We know blue mages have a lot of unique spells that would break PvE as well as PvP balance with other 'serious' jobs in the game.
The devs has said they do not want to implement small scale PvP because of potential team comp imbalance issues.
What else have I observed? PvP players generally quite like being able to pull off crazy moves. In many games, PvP players like having a unique build that works for them. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)
Funnily enough, in many ways, blue mage fits this. It has a lot of flexibility, tank, damage and healing. Blue mages can choose 20 spells from 100-- more if they keep adding new unique spells.
Selecting 20 spells is essentially making your own build. Plus, if more unique spells keep getting added, people can keep updating and creating new unique builds in pvp. Imagine the degree of freedom you could have if one day, there are 200+ skills to choose from.
They could even add more choices for blue mage passive traits if they wished to. ie, traits that boost potencies of a specific elemental spell, or increase defense against certain elements, change some defensive spells to be instant cast and more.
Imagine going into a small scale 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 or whatever. You're a blue with your own build that has some synergy between abilities and your own style. You have zero idea what your opponent's build is, and these builds will automatically get updated when new blue skills are added. There will automatically be quite a high skill ceiling.
Yes, I know some overly powered skills may have to banned from PvP (one shot skills like missile).
But, I am on the opinion that small scale blue mage only PvP has a lot of potential to be crazy fun, lots of outplays etc.
It's fine if people disagree. But please bring it to devs' attention if you believe that there's a good amount of potential in it! : )
