No... just no... my god no...
No... just no... my god no...
I found the timer pretty useless. I knew what I was going to do anyway.
It's so mush less grading now.
Now I can afk and talk while crafting, yay. The difference between pre 1.22 crafting and atb battles is in most (probably all) games with atb battle you can pause in the middle of it and go do something else.
so you only get 5 max abilities to use per synthesis?
One gauge does not ATB make.
ATB relied on the interactions/synchronizations of multiple timers. The tactics involved were a question of how frequently a character could perform an action and how much faster/slower that was compared to how frequently the enemy could.
And, usually, the default setting was for time to stand still while navigating certain sub-menus (e. g. magic).
The timer you refer to was nothing but a requirement to make a decision within a certain amount of time (and one that was needless since players usually knew what they wanted to do before the timer even started). The timer had no real effect on interactions, it didn't affect how quickly you could synthesize. Meanwhile, the item only responded directly to your actions.
If Durability slowly ticked down continuously and you had to wait for a gauge to fill between all your synthing actions (i.e. two different interacting timers), then you'd have a point. As is, no.
The new crafting system is soo much better, my first time trying it out, getting used to abils.. and I have to say its much better, the speed of success is awesome, its not so much of a waiting game with Latency..
There is no point to a synth timer.
I, too, love the changes to the crafting system. ^_^ It's now less guesswork and more of a guarantee. Put enough time and effort into the materials and skills necessary to craft your item, and you are very likely to get the HQ you want.
<3_<3 I love the crafting changes. Thanks very much Dev Team!!
Now, to go do a bit of weaving to get a coupla nice abilities I've got my eye on... ( `-`)
I quite prefer the new crafting system. I'm of the opinion that strong, clear choices are better than muddled weak ones. Of course, as far as the ATB metaphor goes, I preferred FFX's complete dumping of ATB to any of the previous systems--I never thought the ATB thing added that much to the fight, just made it annoying to scroll through spells.
