    PS5 performance issues

So it's been quite a while that PS5 version has been out. The game runs on way worse framerate than why i experienced playing the game on PS4 BC and sometimes even PS4 slim the console over PS5.

The fact that there was no acknowledgement that this version is so flawed concerns me about the future of this PS version. The development team has so much to do with Endwalker and I don't really feel confident that they will improve this any time soon.

The load times are cool, but i would never exchange them for less 60 fps on most zones... The graphical settings adjustment are also no different, the 4K mode plays at 40fps on Idle.

Please PS5 and PS4 players make sure our voice is heard about this issue, I love playing on PS platform because I work all day on coding that I do not wanna see keyboard when I play (except typing).

I have already pre-ordered the Endwalker expansion on PS5, I really hope things will change in the future.

We already have one thread on the forum with a lot of people talking about this problem since ps5 beta. SE keep ignoring us, you can’t even see in patch notes that they are working on it. This is just sad. I always thought FFXIV really care about all players, but now I am not so sure.

I saw that thread as well but it was named PS5 - BETA so i thought a new one has to be made since nothing apparently change from the beta of day one. As you can see I'm quite fresh playing from 2019 only so idk how long ps4 may had issues, but the version i started on 2019 on PS4 it was an amazing port, all the places were so well optimized (except eureka really but there is not really any serious stuff to do there so i didn't mind). As a fan and a Game Programming Student I was inspired by how well done it was, for all the players to enjoy the game. I understand that maybe PS5 because of how limited the quantity is right now, they don't really want to spend time fixing that, with an upcoming expansion... but at least i would expect them to acknowledge that this is not a good port and strive to improve it. That promise that it will get fixed as soon as they can would be enough because they always do their best.

I'm really afraid that we are going to be stuck on this until a lot more people jump the ps5 platform. If anyone has experience with how it was on ps4 at the start please let us know.

This is why it sad, we already had one topic about that, since beta, with a lot of replys and still no feedback from FFXIV team. That is why I mentioned it.
I know a lot of people from the old thread already gave up and are playing ps4 version. But It shouldn’t be a thing.
I dont know how PS5 is not beta anymore. Even in 1080p PS4 version still runs a lot better than PS5 version which is so wierd.
That is true that they are ignoring it because ps5 player base is not that big but this is frustrating.
All they care now is pc player base because of new players.

I understand that they can’t fully focus on ps5, but its been something like 6 months, and we still didnt get any feedback or fix.

Ps4 version wasnt that great too from begining. But it was bigger performance boost from ps3, and didnt have that many issues.
Ps4 version was better when they ended support for ps3 version. But we had a lot more feedback along the way.

I am honestly thinking about canceling Endwalker preorder and my subscription. If they cant fix ps5 version in time when there is no new content in game, and not even talk about it, it will be even worse after Endwalker launch with regular patches.

Since we are so close to endwalker and they never said anything about this issue, it just means they think it's fine. It's quite sad and i have really no trust at all at this point. i guess i will have to go get it again on PC and buy new PC hehe....

Yes, we're all in the same boat. Maybe there will be some unannounced improvements in Endwalker next month, but probably not. At this point it's pretty much switch back to the PS4 version if you value the framerate more than the load times etc.

I mean, while the PS4 version exists we have a solution. Not great, I know, but it's there.

    Greetings fellow Eorzean,

Please try the following suggestions to see if this may help resolve the issue:

    ■ Perform a system update on your PlayStation®5
Perform the most recent system update and then try a version update for FINAL FANTASY XIV Online.

PlayStation®5: The update can be performed from the home menu by selecting
[Settings] → [System] → [System Software] → [System Software Update]

    ■ Remove peripheral devices to create a simpler environment for the program to run
Remove any peripheral USB devices (gamepads, cameras, microphones, headsets, etc.) to create a more stable, simple environment for your console to run the game. Also consider inserting the devices to different USB ports or removing and reinserting them.

    ■ Re-install FINAL FANTASY XIV Online
If the installed data has been corrupted, the issue may be resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

    ■ Factory Reset Your Playstation 5
If there are issues with the Playstation 5 itself, please try performing a factory reset on the console by doing the following:

Go to "Settings" > "System" > "System Software" > "Reset Options" > "Reset Your Console" > "Reset"

We hope this information is helpful!

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!

To the moderator who replied above, I appreciate the effort to help, but it is irresponsible to direct users to factory reset their PlayStation 5 console in an attempt to fix performance problems in your game.

The fact is that the PS5 version of FF14 has fundamental performance problems that are readily reproducible and have been documented by Digital Foundry. The PS5 version runs worse than the PS4 version on PS5, period. The devs must address this. While it is true that not all users are sensitive to these frame rate drops, for those that are the issue is clear as day.

I hope no one reading this thread performs a factory reset in an attempt to fix this problem. That would be a severe inconvenience and it will not help.

My hat to the moderator for the attempt at a Band-Aid however the person I am researching these issues for has already done all of the above and sense they only put FFXIV on the PS5 so far even tried the system reset like 2 months ago. I know the team has so much on their plate so much so they even pushed back Endwalker release but clearly this is an issue that needs to be addressed sooner then that as the list of issues is not just appearing in game play. The lag is in combat in world, dungeons, AND CUTSCEENS and this will make the new story really take a hit if they don't actually address theres an issue. The fact you cant find anyone talking about it is even more of an issue. Yoshi wants the best for his players but with how forms seem so heavily ignored about these issues I am not 100% he even knows. He plays PC so he's not seeing it and if staff aren't bringing it up and just offering "fix ideas" then he cant address the issues properly. If nothing ells if he is aware of the issues he needs to let people know that he knows. The story is a vary important aspect within this game and to several in the community. Having cutsceens on new content messed up because cry's for help on a issue with one system wont look good for the compony as a whole. These forms are our only voice right now don't silence them with band-aid fixes get with your teams and get the words of the people in these forms moving up the chain and fast. Thank you.

    Hi there,

I don't think this would help for PS5 since the ps5 version is the problem and not PS5 itself.
The ps4 backwards compatible plays just fine. https://youtu.be/trIiUXdEyo0
Here is the URL that provides the documented information about the bad performance of FF14 PS5 version.

Please do us a favour and share it with the team, i know they have ton of stuff on their plate,
and ps5 is really not like they described(that it would be easy to native port) so the ports have to be completely remade.

But they need to know this. It has been an issue since the Beta version of ps5, and it never changed or addressed.
