    Greetings fellow Eorzean,

Please try the following suggestions to see if this may help resolve the issue:

    ■ Perform a system update on your PlayStation®5
Perform the most recent system update and then try a version update for FINAL FANTASY XIV Online.

PlayStation®5: The update can be performed from the home menu by selecting
[Settings] → [System] → [System Software] → [System Software Update]

    ■ Remove peripheral devices to create a simpler environment for the program to run
Remove any peripheral USB devices (gamepads, cameras, microphones, headsets, etc.) to create a more stable, simple environment for your console to run the game. Also consider inserting the devices to different USB ports or removing and reinserting them.

    ■ Re-install FINAL FANTASY XIV Online
If the installed data has been corrupted, the issue may be resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

    ■ Factory Reset Your Playstation 5
If there are issues with the Playstation 5 itself, please try performing a factory reset on the console by doing the following:

Go to "Settings" > "System" > "System Software" > "Reset Options" > "Reset Your Console" > "Reset"

We hope this information is helpful!

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!

To the moderator who replied above, I appreciate the effort to help, but it is irresponsible to direct users to factory reset their PlayStation 5 console in an attempt to fix performance problems in your game.

The fact is that the PS5 version of FF14 has fundamental performance problems that are readily reproducible and have been documented by Digital Foundry. The PS5 version runs worse than the PS4 version on PS5, period. The devs must address this. While it is true that not all users are sensitive to these frame rate drops, for those that are the issue is clear as day.

I hope no one reading this thread performs a factory reset in an attempt to fix this problem. That would be a severe inconvenience and it will not help.

My hat to the moderator for the attempt at a Band-Aid however the person I am researching these issues for has already done all of the above and sense they only put FFXIV on the PS5 so far even tried the system reset like 2 months ago. I know the team has so much on their plate so much so they even pushed back Endwalker release but clearly this is an issue that needs to be addressed sooner then that as the list of issues is not just appearing in game play. The lag is in combat in world, dungeons, AND CUTSCEENS and this will make the new story really take a hit if they don't actually address theres an issue. The fact you cant find anyone talking about it is even more of an issue. Yoshi wants the best for his players but with how forms seem so heavily ignored about these issues I am not 100% he even knows. He plays PC so he's not seeing it and if staff aren't bringing it up and just offering "fix ideas" then he cant address the issues properly. If nothing ells if he is aware of the issues he needs to let people know that he knows. The story is a vary important aspect within this game and to several in the community. Having cutsceens on new content messed up because cry's for help on a issue with one system wont look good for the compony as a whole. These forms are our only voice right now don't silence them with band-aid fixes get with your teams and get the words of the people in these forms moving up the chain and fast. Thank you.

    Hi there,

I don't think this would help for PS5 since the ps5 version is the problem and not PS5 itself.
The ps4 backwards compatible plays just fine. https://youtu.be/trIiUXdEyo0
Here is the URL that provides the documented information about the bad performance of FF14 PS5 version.

Please do us a favour and share it with the team, i know they have ton of stuff on their plate,
and ps5 is really not like they described(that it would be easy to native port) so the ports have to be completely remade.

But they need to know this. It has been an issue since the Beta version of ps5, and it never changed or addressed.
