Because if people didn't buy worthless mounts that everyone points and laughs at for being a whale, they could put them in the actual game.
Not everyone cares or competes. I mean the people who buy these mounts don't care if others laugh at them. They can just be like jealous much?
Point is, enough people enjoy buying the mount. More power to them. They get a cool mount. I'm happy for them.
Well some people actually gladly support a company that gives them a great experience. And yes your little sub fee isn't really any support at all besides the bare minimum. And it's not even like they dump all their profit into their shareholders like companies on the stockmarket. They actually upgrade stuff and put it into projects.
I mean it's fine that you feel like your lil sub fee is more than enough but if we are honest, your sub fee doesn't pay SEs sub.
Yeah cause SE isn't the 2nd largest game developer in Japan, it's a tiny, almost destitute indie company.Well some people actually gladly support a company that gives them a great experience. /facepalm
Idk how much you know about the topic but did you know how it looked like for SE after the failed 1.0 launch? SE is only alive today CAUSE of XIV. Not here to bash on the other modern Final Fantasy titles but XIV pulled SE out of the dirt again, i rather put some money into a mount and see the company i like live on.
Also heck, it seems you don't know anything about MMOs at all. Do you think servers pay themself? Especially with the free trial version of the game? And all the other costs too. And yes, they want to make profit and grow bigger and stronger, that's how this stuff works. xD That's why they have Yoshi P. on the XVI team. I rather pay for hundred storemounts than see SE plunge again into the abyss they were in for the past decade before XIV rescued them.

How are they worthless?
What people do with their own disposable income is their business, not anybody else's. Nobody needs to buy dessert when they go to the supermarket, but if they decide to treat themselves once in a while then that's perfectly fine. The same goes for optional items - they're the equivalent of luxuries.
To say nothing of the fact that items added to the Mog Station that are unique tend to be things specially made for other game regions that are eventually brought over here and/or items added on the basis of common requests.
Furthermore, the development team are on record as stating that funds from the Mog Station are available purely for use by the FFXIV team and so far it has allowed for server infrastructure to be improved.
As if that wasn't enough, the monthly subscription fee hasn't really gone up where MMO's are concerned - but the cost of development has. As such, the 'whales' are generally offsetting the costs and disallowing the need for the subscription fee to be increased.
Ah yes all of those people pointing and laughing…..nary a day goes by that I don’t cry in shame as the True Gamers mock and jeer at me from their mighty gamer thrones while I traverse from quest to quest on my fatter cat mount. If only…if only I could gain their respect somehow….it would mean everything to me….
Good luck to anyone actually harassing someone for a store mount. In all likelihood they'd get banned. For that matter, I don't think I have ever seen this actually happen in the game in the first place.
