    Failed purchase but still got amount reserved on bank account

    About a week ago I tried to do a purchase on the cashshop but something went wrong on my browser resulting in the money got reserved on my account but no confirmation went through on SE end.

    It’s now been a week with no word on my ticket (I know EU support is swamped atm) but if I ask my bank to remove the reservation, is that same as doing a chargeback and get my account banned?

    The reservation will fall off eventually. Your bank chooses how long that is.

    Its usually between 3-8 business days.

    The money isn't actually gone until the transaction completes, which yours didn't.

    Yeah Ok, I’m aware it eventually drop. Just sucks it currently keeps my credit card hostage to re-sub

    That's more of a bank issue than anything on SEs end. For whatever reason the stick to "tradition" instead of things being instant in the age of technology.

    Mine usually process in less than 2 business days.

    Merchants are always quick to blame a customer's bank any time there's a payment issue. Some even go as far as to lie to their customers by telling them their bank has to resolve the issue when they could easily fix a problem on their side. The situation you described is a payment system error on the merchant end that occurred after the payment system requested authorization from your bank to run the transaction and the bank approved it. In these cases most of the time the error causes the merchant system to stop processing the transaction on their side which will cause the authorization you're seeing to fall off on its own usually in about a week at the most. I wouldn't be concerned unless you see it fully post cause then it's either filing a dispute with your bank to get the funds back or getting the merchant to issue a refund. Generally the merchant issuing the refund in these cases is faster than the bank dispute in terms of how fast a customer gets their money back.

    To be fair though a lot of these merchant excuses of saying the bank has to do everything isn't the actual merchant but the people in their service department who are most likely prioritizing their own internal metrics in their department or just simply don't feel like doing the work.

    It seems these charged gets restored after 7 bank days in my bank so hopefully it should fall around mid next week, it's a bit of an inconvience to say the least.

    Count yourself lucky my bank doesnt drop charges until the end of the month.

    I once had a 400 euro reservation, at the start of the month, on it that didnt went through. Which made me unable to repurchase the product for an entire month. Because it maxed out my creditcard for another 25 days.
