    [dev1381] Sanctions disappearing upon death

    Hey everyone!

    Wanted to start this thread to hear people's thoughts on sanction-ready gear. Most of the gear seems fairly average without the sanction bonus applied, but once you have a sanction, the gear really powers up. I love the approach to this design and think it's really refreshing.

    The one aspect that did surprise me, however, was that the sanction wears off upon death. Especially since it was not mentioned anywhere in the patch notes:

    “Sanction" is the name given to a process of gear enhancement which involves the casting of any one of a range of enhancing spells on equipment specially crafted to harbor enchantments. The sanction status can be received at the headquarters of each Grand Company, and for the duration of its effect (three hours Earth time) grants a bonus to the efficacy of certain gear. Such gear can be identified by viewing their help text.

    After spending 17,000 GC seals to get this gear (three promotions and the item itself) such a fragile bonus hardly seems worth it? Unless, of course, you're in an LS where you never die, ever, the use of this gear now seems severely limiting. Perhaps they were meant to be "too good to be true".

    Any thoughts? I'd love to even hear the dev rationale for why it was designed this way. It just seems like such a waste after so many seals.

    3 hour all day, no wear on K.O. unless return is used is my vote
    how am i suppose to help the nation if i dont have sanction...

    I completely agree with you, mate. I learned this too the hard way last night, and was severely disappointed. It effectively renders the sanction gear useless when they would be most valuable - during big fights where death is a real likelihood. Lets hope that the functionality currently isn't working as intended, and will be fixed in a maintenance release.

    Taking a look at the patch notes -just like the person who started the thread mentions-, I am really hoping this is only a bug and that it's not meant to be this way.

    The gear and weapons offered by the Grand Companies' for those with the highest rank is only really worthwhile when Saction is up (the added stats are what most people look forward to when getting these pieces). We already have to take into account and schedule refreshing Sanction every 3 hours for the equipment to work properly. While the gear is designed for higher levels and we are looking forward to play end-game content, not dying a single time sounds almost impossible, specially with new content.

    Once in a while a random death happens even during easy stuff. Rendering these weapons completely useless upon a single death makes no sense.

    Please change this so it doesn't wear off upon death. I just spent 6,500 seals on a sanction weapon only to find it's rendered useless when you die. A sanction weapon without sanction just isn't as good as Ifrit weapons I already have.

    Hmm I think its cuz thats how all buffs are designed. I mean a buff can't stay on you if you're dead...cuz you kinda died. But as this is an equipment buff and not a personal buff, it shouldnt disappear when you die. Its probably unintended and will be patched into 1.21a. More than likely it was an oversight by the dev team so I wouldn't worry about it. Having it disappear with death makes it a very impractical weapon buff...especially if the buff is the main draw of the weapon. For now just carry a backup in case you die.

    I really hope that a Community Rep responds to this thread, as I would be highly interested to get confirmation if Sanction is working as intended, or if the current behavior is a bug...
