It would be nice to get a true polar bear mount at some point, too

The bear models in FFXIV (unlike the wolf models, which - aside from the kamui mounts - look incredibly stupid) have always impressed me - they're hulking, vicious, almost otherworldly looking things that also are instantly recognizable against their real-life counterparts.



The polar bears, in particular, have always reminded me of a scene from Game of Thrones (a series I never watched and never will, though this part here is pretty cool):

While I have nothing particular against the... ursine... creature that's a reward from the festival, it's not really a, uhm, well, it's not intimidating, that's for damned sure. In fact, it's more like a white teddy bear than anything else. And that's fine - if you want to look cute, more power to you. That's what 90 percent of the game is about, anyways.

However, I would still like to see an actual polar bear mount added at some point that uses the older (and far more detailed) model. And I hope this didn't just kill any chances of that happening.

The reason we got a Polar Bear in summer is to commemorate the death of Blizzard, who as a company aren't hulking or impressive at all any more. A cheap low quality reskin is intended to be symbolic of the content created in WoW nowadays.

(But on a serious note, I agree. I'd be all for a Polar bear mount like that)

To be fair, bears are really, really cute when they aren’t trying to kill you.

But yeah maybe someday. There’s been a recent influx of in game model animal/monster mounts so I wouldn’t be surprised if someday they add this. Would be a good addition to Ishgard if they ever add more rewards there.

I'm in the thought that they gave use the Starlight/ panda bear re-skin instead of the actual polar bear mobs as mounts in order to keep the WAR tank mount "unique", but that falls short when you consider the DRK's panther mount is a reskin of a coeurl. So I have no idea why they went with the teddy bear mount. Maybe one day we will get the mob version. I heard one of the places we're going to in Endwalker is quite cold. Maybe they'll find a reason to give it to us from there.

Low quality trash mount. Can't be mad since it was free after all. Can be very disappointed though, event is once per year

Not actually low quality at all. Mounts from events are super rare and mounts with special actions like this one a rarer still...

There are already plenty of skimpy bathing suits for you to choose from. They're even on sale during the event.

I'll agree with op that the mount is less than intimidating, but that matches the event story this year. Don't call it trash.
