No, it's not that. I'm just "scared".

Most of the MMORPGs I've played is the same history:

Start to play > the game starts to gaining popularity > the company release a superfluous item on market for the game, nobody cares > more items added, and 1-2 person start to notice, but the majority say "they just need more money, these items are superfluous..." > more and more items added on market, and the game start to decay > everyone blame the market to have the best items for the game now.

Maybe that was not the case, but I can't help worry.

I watched WoW circle the drain for years and yes, I viewed every game or MMO the exact same way as you do because of it. But it's really not like that here. The game is not in decline. Maybe it will be eventually. No one can see the future, but I think we'll be okay for awhile. Everything you are reading on the forums right now is an extreme overreaction to something trivial. Don't let that cloud your judgement. You will be better for it.

Yes, maybe i'm wrong. But man, I F.... love this game, and I don't want greed to fall into this game too.

I'm not here because I want to criticise SquareEnix, or because I don't have the money to buy the mount, but because I'm really scared that I will see my favorite MMORPG go down again.

Didn't the guy said that it start when the game is at it's peak? That's when adding things like cruise chaser in mog station is perfect. Since there is many good things in game, ppl will just say "it's fine".
The game is the lube at this point.

Well luckily FFXIV has always had bad microtransactions from day one, so it won't follow that pattern.

You have to pay an additional subscription fee for more retainers, so SE has always been incentivized to not increase our inventory size and constantly flood us with coins and totems and shafts and fishing bait and crafting mats and non-storable glamours, because they get more money if you run out of space. Most other MMOs I've played just sell you more inventory space for a one-time fee, but in FFXIV you can double the cost of your monthly subscription with retainers.

Getting upset over an optional mount of an ugly boss from six years ago seems silly and trivial by comparison. This is not a slippery slope, we've always been rolling around in the slimy pool at the bottom of the slope since forever.

I stopped getting worked up and arguing over store mounts after the Chocobo Carriage, but all the people saying you didn't mind store mounts before or supported it and even cheered it on until now... What did you expect? What did you think was going to happen? That they'd never put something you think is special or something you really wanted on there?

If anything that's exactly the reason Cruise Chaser is on there, because even in this thread some of the angry people are grudgingly admitting they'll still buy it because they want it so much. It doesn't even matter anymore if you yourself think this is over the line or if you buy it or not because even if you don't other people will.

Bojaza,ocean fishing,ishgard restoration and the Panademic. There is your answer to the content issue. Content lost so one pice can be improved and new content added. Anything else became a victim of the panademic

None of that makes up for the loss in content we had, and a lot of it was before the pandemic even existed so please don’t use that as an excuse.

It's not like they haven't been investing in the game regardless; It's not as if they just ran away with the money they make off subs and the mogstation or whatever. Yeah, content was a bit sparse in comparison, even prior to Covid, but now, towards the end of ShB, it's pretty clear they have been putting more into the game - such as that new datacenter (which costs money). I only question their priorities in terms of types of content, but they do seem to be trying to provide as much as they can considering, even with manpower issues.
