While that is true...the problem with that is that there are not alot of people looking to buy anything that will search in gridania or Limsa's mercantile house unless it's something that isint in ul'dahs.

i had thought the same thing myself until my crystals and wood and Materia didint sell in a week...got a retainer spot in Ul'dah again...Materia sold in less then 10 minutes.

i figure that eventually this will be the solution when people actually start using them. similar to the party search feature.

Yea... I think the devs should look into whether or not the 7 day limit is working as expected... pretty sure that my retainer is next to the retainer of a buddy who hasn't been on in weeks.

Just make an auction house for all items and allow players to sell items in bazaar if they want just like FFXI has the system works then ppl who cant get into the wards can sell the lil stuff they want and bazaar the higher lvled stuff without tax if they choose. time limits are lame. i have better things to do than worry bout reloading my retainer each week.

I find myself can call my retainer in fieldcraft row without problem.

Are you sure you tried to call retainer in every ward before complain?

They should lower taxes in the other 2 cities (or raise in Ul'dah) to encourage movement or at least searching elsewhere.

Still waiting for retainers to set up a booth outside my mog house...decorate a flashy stand to attract people to visit etc.

I posted elsewhere, but this thread has gotten community rep attention.

Would it be possible to implement a way for the taxes and search fees to benefit the Grand Company? You would think that if the city-state itself were making a profit they would have something to show for it. Maybe offer a discount on seal items during a good week? This would encourage commerce in more places than Ul'dah. I don't know how much burden that would place on the server, but I think it would help.

In any case, I can't expect everyone to have the patience for this, but I try to check Gridania and Limsa Lominsa before I set foot in Ul'dah's Mercantile House. I want to encourage commerce in all 3 cities, partly because I miss having more than one AH in FFXI. When you see cutscenes and story quests related to the trade routes, they don't make sense if all of the items can be found in the same place and delivered at an instant.
