But still, you are ultimately right, we're simply stuck waiting for 2.0 at this point, and we'll just be getting these sorts of half-baked implementations till then.

I heard there is other games you can play till 2.0 if you would like. Don't take my word though, it's just something I heard.

The mercantile houses are nice, but I still can't sell anything because every Ul'dahn Market Ward on Balmung is full.
Now if there was a reason to use the other town's wards... like say Lower/no tax in the other cities, or perhaps diffrent towns should feature diffrent sets of market wards, with extra implementations of their speciatly.
Uldah could host Lower, Middle & Upper Tailors Rows with 1 Extra set of each. I.E. Lower 1 & Lower 2
Limsa could host War Garb and Weapons
and Gridania could host the majority of the crafting material wards
Since the mercantile houses give access to all 3, each of the server sets would have free space and get used.

this is a good idea, IF, i stress IF, you can view more then 20 items on the list when you are looking for a particular item, otherwise we still have to go to those cities to see what other items are available, and i hate bazaar searching people with 9999999999 items.

I would personally rather solve the issue by enlarging the wards and requiring stalls, the end result being that players are forced to use the Grid and LL wards because the Ul'dah stalls are all taken.

I would like to see this but I would also like to be able to search for +1 items as the search only shows the lowest prices, and if there are loads of the item the +1s are pushed off the list. Alternatively an option to change the price from high to low or to scroll through all the items would be fine.

There is an easy solution to this, split the window to show 10 lowest NQ and 10 lowest HQ, its extremely simple and I'm surprised SE haven't done so yet.I would like to see this but I would also like to be able to search for +1 items as the search only shows the lowest prices, and if there are loads of the item the +1s are pushed off the list. In 2.0 NQ and HQ should be completely separate, so you can type Raptor leather +1 and it will find all the +1 raptor leather.
Agree with this also, there is no need for this convoluted design of having physical zombies standing in a static room, it takes up server memory and isn't as cool as it sounds.Like others have said, get rid of physical form retainers (clogging up areas), and just search from one merged window.

I have an idea, they have been able to add additional wards in the past (menders row). So I propose SE just add more wards to each city state. The reason no one wants to move their retainers to other cities is because they risk not being able to get back into Ul'dah's wards if they're not selling anything in the other cities. By adding more wards this alleviates the problem.
They could duplicate all the wards so for instance you'll have battlecraft row 1 and battlecraft row 2. Or they could even abolish the original names completely as it's not necessary anymore to have your retainer in a specific ward other than for the reduced surcharge. The names were made redundant when they implimented the search feature. So you could just have Ul'dah market ward 1 to 15 for example.
But until anything is changed I would like to suggest to players to sell all your HQ items in another city, lets say Gridania as there's more activity there these days with Hamlet defence. If everyone does this we'll not have a problem finding HQ items for sale and players selling HQ won't have the current problem of not getting in the top 20 of the item search feature.
Like others have said, get rid of physical form retainers (clogging up areas), and just search from one merged window.
And YES, let us search for HQ separately from NQ!!!

I was a bit disappointed by this new feature because I thought it meant we'd be able to search all 3 nations at the same time. Today I'm still using the item search from within the wards to check prices and shop. It seems a bit of a useless feature unless they make it search all 3 cities because everyone is still in uldah as far as I can tell. If they can't make it search all cities because of remote purchasing, I think it would be better to remove that feature so that other wards get used more.
