    Pvp

    I went into pvp with extremely low expectations and was somehow still disappointed. It feels really strange that you get almost all new abilities for pvp specifically, and that you only have around 1/4 of the abilities as a level 80 in pve. It's also really weird that many spells behave COMPLETELY different in pvp/pve. My damage "rotation" is completely changed (and waaaaaaay simplified). I might as well be a playing a new job. I can't even summon anything as a Summoner lol.

    I understand that "PvP isn't the focus of FFXIV and should only be a side activity." That's why (imo) using pvp profiles to attempt to balance/make pvp more accessible, and totally changing how spells function is a very silly idea. Scale lower levels up to 80/tweak numbers if balance is an issue. Don't change an entire classes playstyle and remove all their flavor in an attempt to make pvp more balanced and accessible. I just cant understand why pvp is structured in this way. Everything about pvp seems to contradict itself.

    it's because PvP in ARR was basically a half baked idea that was never fully fleshed out and adding to the fact that the majority of the community is more focused on story then anything else doesn't help neither

    A pve rotation wouldn't work for pvp because a proper combo is difficult to do on a player that is running around.

    If everyone didn't have level 80 actions it would have to split everyone into level tiers and not enough people do pvp for that.

    You still summon a pet but I think the pet disappears from view because it's annoying and it didn't hide it before the expansion.

    PVP actually had quite a decent following back in the day. It just wasn't given proper support so the interest declined more and more over time.

    There's a lot of arguably questionable decisions involved with PvP. There's no roulette for Rival Wings so most people just run Frontlines over and over again. Feast isn't very rewarding for regular players and many of the items on offer are available for a very small window of time - usually competing with other content for people's time and attention. Furthermore, the ability to chat authentically was removed from ranked PvP so strategies cannot be introduced on the fly.

    Trying to balance the same kit for both PvE and PvP is inherently much more difficult, so I can understand why they opted to split things up.

    It avoids a situation like WoW where they have to constantly buff/nerf classes because changes intended for one aspect of the game end up making a class/ability too weak/strong in the other.
