I don't have a problem with wanting improvements of the game.
It's when those expressed improvements are spoken out of spite, ignorance, and general disrespect that I get upset.
There's nothing wrong with saying this game is flawed, but the equivalent to most arguments here is 'It's broke, fix it!" With nothing more than a space glance at the actual situation - when this team, above so many other development teams, have taken such pains to explain situations to players why things are they way they are, the difficulties presented to them, and what solutions they can have - depicts these cirtisms as nothing short of bad fath arguments and whining for the sake of having something to complain about.
They're not perfect. I don't agree with all of their stances or solutions, but they've been on the level with us for years - and that's something you can't purchase. We understand their situations and choices, and the fact that's not even being regarded in any of these discussions is what devalues what could otherwise be good, constructive critisms that actually have a ghost's chance of being addressed, rather than just airing already answered or understood grievances.
That's my issue here.
Housing is a nightmare - there is no ready solution to the problem because it would take a "Realm Reborn" level of reconstruction of the item coding, and instanced structure to even begin to address the problems there. It's bad, and they programmed themselves into a corner with it. But there is no way to supply the massive demand for housing they have, therefore - they have to find a way to cycle housing based off of activity.
The alternative is public spaces occupied by ghosts in the game that are never playing, and their limited server space would be flooded with vacant towns, when there is an active need for players to use that space, and not enough supply for the demand as is.
So yes, it is YOUR problem that you can't take a break, and have enough cognizance to update your house.

The argument on not enough PvE content in this game is silly - especially compared to the systems of other MMOs (My GF just uttered *coughcoughwow* as she saw that line.) We have a strong, reliable content cycle - and Ultimates were an addition, not a foundation.
I'm going to be blunt and say that the "Lack of PvE" argument is made in bad faith. When you consider the scope of content made in this cycle - we're netting equal if not more overall - and we are still in the Pandemic, which has to be bully pupated into people's heads to even acknowledge that that is a gigantic factor here.
When I see these arguments, they really boil down to one thing - Ego-Based content. "I want more of the thing that makes me say I'm better than other people." When you look at the complaints, that's what it boils down to. We have a small rotational exception with the standing request of "Midcore Dungeons" which I support (though the pitch is horrible as usual.) But buy in large the concept of "Content" inevitably falls to "I want something harder than anyone should reasonably be able to complete in a decent timeframe so I can consume my life and parade it as a shiny metal that validates my time.)
The thing is, that concept is becoming more and more dated and has evolved in FFXIV, when you consider the dedication level content like the Resistance Weapons, where it's less about heavy difficulty, and more about endurance and participation. So the 'content' is here. Players are having to make narrow slice quantitation in order to even have something to complain about which boils down to "I want the game to ignore everything else but what I want it to do exactly." - which is just inconsiderate.
You're more than welcome to take small breaks from the game to space out your accomplishments - or barring that, diversify your gameplay into hobbies that are sustainable and less intensive.
There is a massive backlog of content in this game to enjoy ranging from the silly and casual to the intense and difficult. Don't limit yourself to a single slice - and if you asking for improvements on your slice - then keep it considerate of the community at large.
Otherwise you're just being needlessly salty.
(And now I'm really gone. Time for my next forum hiatus.)
