What Got You Interested In Playing FFXIV?

So what got you interested in playing FFXIV? For me, my brother introduced the game to me back in 2014. The story, characters, the community, the friends I made the whole game, and the ost got me pretty hooked when I first started playing it, and I have been a fan of the FF series since the original VII. It was also the first MMO I have played.

Yup... got my 1.0 Collectors edition goodies and those sprint shoes they gave by linking your playonline account with the game back then lol. Though I haven't gone as far as I did on FFXI to run 3 subs at the same time just to I could have alts doing other stuff while playing my main or being my own party hunting HNMs XD

A variety of reasons, some might be:

- Have played a number of SE games
- Played FFXI (but not hardcore, certainly in the triple digit hours easily though)
- Usually have one MMO active, was playing WoW but I like a lot of SE's throughput ideas A LOT. For example, the job system is super brilliant (even if there is no cross job system, I just like that I can do it all on one character), moogles, chocobos, airships, music, art, etc. Though on art it would please me greatly if they were able to give the in-game artists more leeway (greater object / engine budget), some of the concept art clearly doesn't translate into game well because the system just couldn't handle it (and that's occasionally a little "aww shucks").
- Didn't like all the issues in 1.0 (the retainer market was uh.. traumatizing lol), but I did like how SE / Yoshida went about repairing the damage, it's a cool experience.
- Has story, WoW and the Warcraft universe in general has a story but I don't think it's told as well as it could be (and they fumble on stuff too much, imo).
- At this point I think it's also the general direction, things are often made on a curve, allowing a fairly decent range of players to experience all said content (accessible, given a function of time and participation). Designs try not to beat you up for not running the treadmill when everything is hot.
